I like this, passion for the game is back.

Now all we have to do is sign Nylander and trade for Karlsson. That to me is a team very much challenging for a deep playoff run.

WHY!?!?!

Let's give the team that just screwed us some extra cap space to now screw us again and sign CDH. LL is a clown.
can't even imagine how anyone can say this. There's no respect and patience for a man who has been as successful as LL? That's sad. I hope most of us can respect him and give him a little time a patience simply because it's obvious the guy has had much success in hockey. No respect or benefit of the doubt? Calvin has not shown an ability to stay healthy anyway. He could end up hurting the leafs with his bad shoulders

You mean if he didn't turn us into Stanley Cup champs days after we lost our star player, we shouldn't jump up and down and burn the house down?

Matt Martin's 1.35 assist/60 places him 5th among current Islanders, 7th among current Leafs. Babcock loves fast players.
Played Kapanen on the fourth line, he has 2 assists... in his entire career. Matt Martin had three assists in one game last
season. Maybe Babcock's overall strategy will work? But it certainly didn't involve Martin who ended up being a health
scratch despite out-performing his counterparts. So glad for Martin's sake he's not on Toronto. I'm a bit of an Islanders fan,
but distanced enough that a rebuild wouldn't hurt my feelings. Honestly, I am more keen to watch an Islanders game with
Martin then Tavares. And that's the key thing, Martin will be entertainment. And that's what you really need to carry you through.

Glad to see Matty coming back....was a mistake to let him go and break up that line.
Not sure i get the overall picture just yet...but will be nice to have one back that wants to play for us.

Always loved Matt Martin as a player. If nothing else he brings great leadership qualities. Something this team lacked under he who shall not be named.

Overpaid? Yeah, but it I’m still happy to have one of my favorite Islanders back

Reading his quotes...seriously....this is the kind of guy we need on this team. Heart and soul type of player who speaks highly of the Island and organization. He gets it.

After what we've been through these last few days, we need to see this kind of passion from a returning player.

Now he just needs to find a roster spot among the 26 other bottom 6 forwards we have...

I love Martin's charity work. He is a class act.
But, I did not want the slow skater back.

I can’t see how anyone can complain about this trade. MacAdam was never going to be an Islander goalie. He’s an AHL goalie, at best.

It’s pretty much like we got Martin for free. The lineup got a great hitter and more passion into a soft lineup. I love this trade.

Martin, Clutterbuck and Komarov ALL finished in the top 5 in hits. Gonna be tough playing against the Isles.

Sometimes I can’t take my fellow Islander’s fans. If the Rangers or Devils landed Martin, you’d be complaining about that. I’ve ALREADY read comments (on twitter and on here) saying Lou Lamoriello sucks and he needs to go. Really ?

A fan favorite. Why not? Slots in the Chimera slot from last season's roster.

I wonder if we could get a few more trolls from mediocre or worse teams that play in mediocre or worse cities?

Komarov and Martin are going to give the Islanders some sandpaper, leadership and quality veteran personalities over the next few years, assuming the plan is to take a bit of a dip in the standings and start injecting the roster with prospects en masse with Bellows, Wahlstrom, Dobson, and helping along Barzal, Beauvillier and Ho Sang who are already there. Obviously, you guys know about Martin, and he was great with Marner in Toronto. So that role makes a lot of sense.

I took my kids down to see a game the last year in the Coli. Saturday night in November against the Pens.

4-1 W, Martin was the first star. Had my then 9 yo down by the glass. He skated over, saw him in his Isles jersey and threw him the puck.

Special night for my son, still has the puck in a case on his night stand. He was so excited today when I told him Martin was coming back. Especially after the BS of the asshat liar Tavares...

Nice to see someone who is a good guy and cares about kids, community back.

I’ll miss saying ermin mcerdam but I like the move to bring in someone who wants to be here. Hopefully he, zeeker, and clutter can bring it again.

Yeah, we know all about Matty Marts. He's Barzal's big bro now.

I'm very confused as to what LL is doing.

we are just building a slow 90s team that won't work in today's game.

It looks like a "controlled demolition." That's the best I can make sense of Lamoriello's moves. Like planning to lose fairly often, but do so in a structured way with veteran support that can allow for positive internal growth among the kids as opposed to a downward Buffalo Sabres spiral into oblivion.

Phase II is the kids get better, and enough of the contracts will have clicked down that you can flip them to a contender for more picks and fuel for the fire.

That, or Lou is building a post lockout version of the New Jersey Devils for some strange reason.
