The plan is to make the first line SOOOO good that we can keep it on the ice for 60 minutes a game and dominate all game long! Start working on that cardio Matt, Tony and Jordan!

At the moment, no room for Ho Sang, Bellows, and Dal Colle on the roster, and there's a question of who will be 2C. Not ideal.

People are being a little ridiculous over these signings.

Our bottom 6 last year was a DISASTER. Probably the worst in the NHL

Now our bottom 6 looks like this:

Ladd - Filppula - Komarov
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck (Kuhnackle)

Not only is that bottom 6 about 10x better than last season but they are also defensively responsible.

Just because we addressed our bottom 6 doesn't mean we aren't going after a 2C, D, and G. Not to mention one of Clutterbuck/Cizikas could be going back in a trade. Sure the big needs haven't been addressed yet but this bottom 6 is a HUGE HUGE improvement over last season.

To be fair if we are talking skill wise there is not room for Dal Colle on the Junior Islanders.

Anyhow, this trade is a good trade. Clutterbuck and Cizikas were sorely missing this guy since he left and now you just have to hope the most expensive fourth line in hockey becomes the best fourth line in hockey again.

Man... Y'all think these are the worst contracts in the world - so bad, I'm guessing - that they pass through waivers no problem, right? Yet, you worry about roster flexibility?

Maybe Martin has been practicing his goalie skills and he is going to play goal for the Islanders? You know we still need a goalie!

Well the goal of the organization shouldn't be to purposely give out bad contracts so they pass through waivers. I understand what you're getting at but it doesn't add up.

Also, these contracts are not even bad, he is trying to shore up the bottom six currently. Lamoriello is doing that just fine.

And not to mention, the PK just got hugely upgraded too!

I was being facetious, but the reactions to this move are crazy.

The reason the Komorov move was bad was because years 3 and 4. The first 2 years are fine. This is a 2 year low cash deal. No problem.

Isles are just 2 and change over the cap floor at the moment. Not a great source of worry. I think its important to remember there was apparently a lot of interest in Martin. He rejoins a proven line with Casey and Cal. It's not an EK move, but not one where I would say Lamoriello lost. It's part of a bigger plan the way I see it.

It also looks like that. That's a lot....

That's the main issue. Is the bottom 6 a little better than last year? Probably. But they're also making $20+ mil. You don't spend that on your bottom 6, you spend it on actual talented players so you don't have Brock Nelson as your 2C, Nick Leddy as your 1D, and Greiss as your 1G.

And even in two years $3 million on the books won't be terrible if we can buy the Ladd contract out with an amnesty buyout.

Lou getting players to fit Trotz' style of play. We need a goalie and an upgrade/addition on defense, but I think you're seeing Plan B. I'm all for a defensive style and being hard to play against.

100% agree.

After my initial reaction I am all in on the Martin move but if there was so much interest it would have cost more than McAdam
