Boychuk will be protected. Does Ladd need a ride somewhere?

It's a long ways off for Boychuk, we'll see how he's playing. He'll be 37 by the time the draft happens and he'll have just one more season on his contract. I doubt he's selected or protected by that time.

I doubt Boychuk gets protected, Dobson and Wilde would have had a professional season under their belts by then assuming both are returned to their respective leagues next year. Pulock will be the anchor of the defense by then and Mayfield will still be dirt cheap for another 2 seasons.

The RD situation is probably the most promising the Isles have going forward for the foreseeable future. It's the strength of the defense now and has crazy upside.

Pulock 6'2 217
Mayfield 6'5 223
Dobson 6'3
Wilde 6'3

Boychuk 6'2 227

Oh we are all aware :heart::heart:

You guys don't mind if I give Matty Marts some well deserved recognition on the mainboard? I did already. He really deserves A LOT of credit, his career looked done after being marginalized by Babcock. And even I wondered if he could keep up with the new NHL, but as funny as this sounds. We know he can, teams are looking to add a Matt Martin to their line up again for the playoffs. Seems as much as we want to think the game does not need players like Matt, they do. And you know what, it couldn't happen to a better person from reading all the things he does in the community and for the team.

TWS, any thread you start about the islanders will tickle me pink. Always appreciate your perspective, and as an added bonus, you drive leaf fans bonkers! Love it

Thanks. On that note, this just popped into my head. After Dunn cleanly demolished Kadri, the Leafs soft as christmas snow did nothing. Totally embarrassing for a team to not stand up for a teammate.

Now imagine if that happened to Barzal? Who would be standing up for him? Take a number. Because Matty Marts would be first in line.

You can thank Kyle Dumbass for gifting Lou, Matty Marts last summer. Or I will thank him on his behalf. Now the Laffs want to address their grit. Dumbass couldn't be more clueless. He gave that away to Lou last summer.

A Rangers fan to the core. Very amusing his daughter is with an Islander.

The only thing more poetic than that is Dick Chaney's daughter being a lesbian.

Matt Martin looks like steal this year at 2.5M per. I have no problem paying him that much reuniting the Casey, Cal, Matt line. Really they are a 4th line in name only. They are much more than that for Trotz. Really fun watching them do their thing as only they can this year. Trotz is so confident in them, he doesn't hesitate in playing tham against any line in the NHL.

Yeah almost as dumb as the Islanders organization gifting them Tavares and Lou doing nothing to fill that hole.
Now what do we need more than anything?
But I guess every team can afford to giveaway a franchise Center.
Say what you will but the Leafs got the best of us.
Leafs were shedding salary and desperate to unload Martin.
LL should have been smart enough to have them take back salary before trading away any assets.
It's easier to aquire grinders than 40 goal scorers.

Posted this on the Main board. But it seems more fitting here looking back.

Here is an interesting fact. Some thought the Matt Martin trade reuniting the trio this season was a bad one for the Isles this past summer. It was indeed a stroke of genius by Lou to get him for practically nothing from Dubas and the Leafs. Watching them head to head against Crosby, hard to disagree.

The New York Islanders are 30-14-6 when the line of Cal Clutterbuck, Matt Martin and Casey Cizikas play.

That is not exactly the great Canadiens line of Jacques Lemaire, Guy Lafleur and Steve Shutt but the Islanders are so good when any of the trio are not hurt. New York is only 14-11-1 when someone is hurt and while that's not too bad, it isn't a team that would be hoping to win in the playoffs, if they even got there.

The moronic hot takes on the 1st 2 pages look so cringe worthy now.

Matt my buddy, I don't blame Isles fans for that considering it looked like a tank move after Pajamas left. I think the hotter takes came from Laffs fans. BTW who's laffing now?

I always liked the move. Confirmed with Link: - Matt Martin for McAdam Not to sound prophetic, but it even turned out better than I could ever imagine.

If anything I was wrong how much impact it would have on the team. It exceeded even my expectations.
