We've thought the same thing about a lot of other teams over the years, somehow their GM's have almost always managed to work around it. There are ways to get rid of bad contracts and I think Lamoriello will be able to do that.

Agreed. Point is - as it stands - the Islanders are not necessarily in a good situation regarding the cap. Lou working magic is most certainly a possibility (a welcome one!) but far from guaranteed. A lot of work to do.

Ladd is getting that compliance buyout if it comes
Thanks, I now have this tune stuck in my head (to "she'll be coming round the mountain"):

Ladd is getting that compliance buyout if it comes.

Ladd is getting that compliance buyout, getting that compliance buyout,
Ladd is getting that compliance buyout if it comes, if it comes.

:pickle:

I thought this was the official song for the season.

Did everyone forget about the expansion draft or something? Boychuk or Ladd can be plucked.
By Boychuk or Ladd getting "plucked", do you mean "offloaded at the price of a draft pick or two"? ;)

I guess it's possible that we'll be able to protect most of our players because not eligible yet and an expansion team looking for vet leadership will take them. Hope you're right.

And most likely salary.

I wouldn't let Ladd lead a boyscout troop on a fishing trip. What vet leadership does bring to our team? Is it the tireless work ethic or playing through injury? As for the thread title, no thanks, I'll keep Martin. Wink

Maybe Ladd was signed for his leadership qualities just like Komarov. He can't put up numbers if he is hurt. Martin was aquired for probably same.

Why was this thread revived? I mean we aren’t even talking about Martin... but Ladd.

I get it, some Islander fans don’t like the “Teh Gritz!” signings....

Anyway, love this trade. Got an NHL player who loves the area and organization. Who has already helped the team win some games while not being a liability.

this is why I dislike the Hickey and Komarov deal.
time to let Eberle, Flip, and Nelson walk
