Matt Greene doesn't score in the shootout AGAIN, Kings lose 2-1

Meh like I said early , without all the OT points. The Kings are planning for the draft in January of this season. The boys would be playing for nothing right now.

I don't remember where I heard this. I think it was an analogy on one of the hockey shows. It basically goes something like this:

A guy climbed a very steep mountain cliff. He climbed for x amount of days for x amount thousands of feet. He only had about a hundred feet to go to reach that top. He was never able to do it. There's is a point where you just can't do it. Even when the finish line is at your finger tips.

Wish we got 2, but it could be a good thing that we were able to get 1 out of it.

I don't get the fatigue thing. They still had 2 whole months of no hockey. How are you still tired after 2 months?

It could also be mentally and emotionally tired as well. Maybe some complacency thrown in. Just won two Cups, each one in crazy fashion. The 2nd one especially. Three trips to the conference final. And then they have to get ready for yet another regular season. They've played almost an extra full regular season in playoff games. More roads trips. They beat Chicago in the playoffs. They have a teammate gone for non-hockey reasons. Richards, who's had a major presence on the team, has become what he's become.

Excuses, reasons, who knows.

Nothing to melt down for really. Two cups in three years . I got nothing to meltdown. About.

I got this crazy feeling them missing will actually help the franchise in the long run. Especially since they look like the don't have the energy for another long run.

They should do more cardio in the off season. Get tired too easily. Why isn't Chicago suffering from complete fatigue?

Maybe they're just better? More talented?

Maybe they've just had a different path. They went to the conference final, then won the Cup, then went out on the 1st round two years in a row, then won the Cup, then went to the conference final.

I am OK missing the playoffs. If it means getting a higher pick, give the boys a break, retool etc. Our team has played a full season more when we include the playoffs. That would gas anyone.

I'm content right now. If the Kings make it in their current resume gives me tons of hope and if they miss out it's been a hell of a run and they'll get better next year.

Either way, I can't wait to see the roster on opening night next year. And even more so after the deadline!

Yeah I'd rather miss the playoffs than get bounced in the first round anyway. I think the extra rest would do wonders. Still, gotta try and go for it though. Edmonton up next.

If we miss the post season, no losing that 1st round pick (in the Sekera trade), a shot at McDavid, and extra rest for the boys. BOOM!

See how easy it was to flip that switch...? ;)

Holy Mother of God is that a byproduct of Sutter and Kopi having a child together?

It would have helped them in the long run if they traded Stoll, Greene, Williams, and Brown at the trade deadline and got picks and prospects for them. However, not only did we not do that... we traded two assets for someone that got hurt.

Issue i have with this statement is how many third period lead s the kings have given up this year. It's not like LA has been battling back in the third to steal one point (other than that crazy ass Nashville game). Feel more like LA has been gifting one point that earning one.
