Better at HOCKEY

Do you watch the games?

Tell me all about zuccarello's poor play that you see

Why the need to compare two very different types of players? It's almost like saying Lundquist is better than Crosby. They have strengths and weaknesses that are completely opposite, play different games and are used in different situations.

"Hockey" is more than puck moving, skating, creativity and passing.

I dont think I'd characterize Zuccarello as poor in this stint. Hes improved his speed a bit, which was a big issue his last go around. Good for him.

I dont, however, think hes the sort of difference maker that this thread might lead one to believe. Hes been OK - nothing more, nothing less.

If you want me to placate your strange comparison, then yes, I'll say hes been better than Boyle this season. But again, that comparison is ridiculous being they are counted on to fill roles that couldnt be more different.

The idea of different roles is dumb, you want everyone to play the role of puck possesion. Boyle is a 4th liner and on real contending teams he shouldn't be on the roster

Have you ever checked out zuccarello's point per minute?

The notion of specific roles on National Hockey League teams is "dumb." Yea, OK. I dont think you'll find a single knowledgeable hockey mind to agree with you on that one.

But I sure am glad that Zuccarello has a lot of points per minute in the 10 games hes played this year. That'll save the season.

Corsi says there are no roles just puck possession

To stop the maddness

All these ideas torts feeds to everyone are wrong....you need to have the puck to be a consistent winner

Real cup contenders have the puck and take it to teams

You also need to win faceoffs, kill penalties and stop the opposition's top players. Departments where Brian Boyle is very good.

He shouldn't be in the top nine or the PP, but he's a very good fourth line center.

Every team based sport out there has roles, and that’s the way it has to be. Every player can’t be quarterback. Somebody has to be the placekicker.

If he only played on the 4th line and during PK I could stomach it, but he is a black hole and he impedes better players from scoring, and due to his overuse holds the team back

You do realize that the acquisitions that allowed us to settle everyone into their correct roles are a big reason the team is 8-2-1 in the last 11, right?

That has to be one of the stupidest things I have heard I awhile. Every team based sport out there has roles, and that’s the way it has to be. Every player can’t be quarterback. Somebody has to be the placekicker.

Everyone can do it in different ways...but the results tells you who's good and who is not

Boyle is not, players that cause the puck to be in the offensive end are the better players, Boyle doesn't do that ans often the rangers have too many players who don't do that

this is it. i think. the round pegs fit into the round holes now. it's pretty easy to draw up lineups now. don't have to make 27 right wings and 0 left wings work. it's a good balance. maybe torts can chill out with the juggling too. that'd be nice.

Pretty sure zucc could score a hatty next game and the two main anti-zuke antagonists would still find complaints about his size and defensive capabilities and how the rangers prospects are going flair up next season and be so much more worth

"Anti-Zuke Antagonists" Ouch, sounds like a war crime. Maybe it is in this thread or in Norway.

I would give Zuccarello credit if he ever scored a hat trick in a Rangers uniform. My issue is the smart money is on the bet that he never will.

Can you site examples of zuccarello hurting the rangers?

I always hear about his defensive shortcomings but never actually see them when he is playing

You didnt see Huberdeau embarass him in the Florida game? Or how he was like a deer in headlights off the faceoff for that goal against in Buffalo? These are just from the past week. Hes not an aware defensive player.

If he produced at a better clip than .5 PPG, it wouldnt matter as much as it does.

So how bout the 23 takeaways...

The fact that he's always plus

The points per minute which applies to his whole rangers time not just 10 games

You are either bias or just not watching the games

Odd choice of a number to make, as he's averaged .5 PPG, which would put him in the top six scorers on the team for a full season, this year or last.

And now you've hit upon why the Rangers brought back an offensively gifted borderline NHL'er in Zuccarello. This team has had trouble scoring goals. Almost starting to think cognitively now in this thread..baby steps.

If Zuccarello started producing at a 60 point full season clip, you wouldnt hear me complaining. The pros would outweigh the cons. Im not so sure thats the case right now. But I do appreciate how even questioning this makes me the king of the "Zucc haters"

Notice; he wasn't able to break the roster last season, even after we dealt away Wolski and Christensen. This year, even with the Gaborik move for depth he was rushed in and handed a top 9 slot.

That, to me, says more about this team than Zuccarello. I believe, given the absence of offensive players available this summer, that he'll get a full season next year to show what he can do. Unless Sather does something crazy and makes a short termpitch for Elias or Jagr, it seems inevitable.

They are underrepresenting his flaws and you are overrepresenting his mistakes. Zucc has made improvements all around including defensively, enough to make him a viable and capable Ranger this year and likely beyond. He is not however so good that he's guaranteed to continue to be a Ranger

He certainly has his defensive lapses here and there. If you don't notice them it's because you don't want to. However, he's not a detriment to the team and actually adds more than he subtracts IMO.
