Zucc apparently has major plans for next year, along with Hank :

Short summary : Zucc and Hank are planning to put down a layer of ice at Norways national soccer field in the middle of summer, and play a hockey game similar to what Zucc & friends has been doing for several years already at the indoor rink in Stavanger, Norway.

Sounds nuts to be honest, but also very fun :D

I got 2 tickets, going to be great fun!! :handclap:
Hopefully some good players will come over.

I'm always told I'm weird cause I'm 28 and have a "Favorite player" but **** I love Zucc.

I have had favorite players (plural) for almost 40 years in many sports. I do not think that is unusual. I used to be a huge Reggie Jackson and Graig Nettles fan for the Yanks. Don Murdoch, EJ, Ulf, Gresh and Beck fan for our Rangers. Huge Patrick and Bernard fan for the Knicks. Crazy Phil Simms fan for the Giants.

The star factor in the Zucca event has certainly increased as it's progressed, and now with Hank I'm almost positive we'll see some of the real superstars attend. Erik Karlsson definitely. The usual suspects like Hags, Brass, and the Rangers crew.

Honestly I hope they get Jagr to attend.

So it'll be Blackhawks vs Team Scandinavia?
Probably not, heh. Zucc and Hank will captain the opposing teams, and that is all we know at this point. But Zucc has never had any trouble bringing over really good players (current and former teammates mostly), then i imagine Forsberg (well, the entire trio of Forsberg, Näslund and Sundström really) has been the major draw for most of the Swedish players. That Hank wants to join the fun is awesome, and can only make the event even better :)

If it were clear that the Rangers are out of the playoff picture come deadline day, would you deal Zucc, or would you say he's untouchable? I figure, at this stage in his career, his value would likely start to decline in two to three years -- and, oh yes, don't forget that cap-friendly contract.

Thats difficult to answer, and even though i am trying my best to be unbiased, i am not sure that i am succeeding 100 percent :)

Bottom line, it would have to be for someone better to make sense for me (deals you just "have to make"). As you mention, he is on a very generous contract, and he has not yet shown any signs of starting to slow down.

Some say that he should last well into his 30's because he does not have the mileage on him that players that come up through the North American system has, but that would be pure speculation.

He has 2 years left on his contract, and if he is not traded within those 2 years, and still is a 50 - 60 point player and having his speed and "smarts" intact..well.. my hope is another very generous Rangers contract so that he can retire there.. but that happens to *very* few players, so thats probably just a pipe dream :)

Ultimately, unless you just want to bring down the age for the age's sake (IE, replace him with a very promising 22 year old, etc), i dont see who could replace him without going up in salary.

Well, those are my thoughts on it anyway (as unbiased as i can make it) :)

That's pretty much what I figured too. He's just so darn likable and such a big part of this team -- probably more important to our team than he would be to a potential trading partner. I mean, I'd want a top-five pick in a strong draft class in exchange for him, but I doubt any team would agree to that valuation. The guy also bleeds blue, so to speak, and it's very hard to trade away someone like that -- even if you're rebuilding.

********.

Don't let anyone tell you that admiring an athlete is weird. The worst thing they say is "it's just a game." Well, you know what, it's not. It means a lot to a lot of people.

It doesn't have to mean a lot to you, but if you can't accept that it does to somebody else, then you're the weird one.

Proud moment for Zucc with the "A" on his chest.

He deserves one permanently, but not sure it will stay for RS.

Yes. Team before a player.
