How many points would Zucc have right now if his teammates could finish? He easily could've had 5 assists in that Detroit game alone. His playmaking is absolutely elite.

Yeah it showed me something when even guys on the Detroit board were raving about him in that game.

AV said he wanted to see Kreider-Zib-Zooks all along but Zooks missed the preseason. Zooks plays very well with Hayes so it does not matter to me. AV shows a lot of faith in Zooks if you look at minutes played. Would AV play PB those minutes?
Yes, i've noticed that Zucc several times have been at the top of ice-time among forwards :)

I was not saying that Buch is going to replace Zucc, i was saying that maybe AV moved him down to the 4th line to "ease him back" (he had a back injury just a few days ago).

And we must also remember that he is a rookie, still learning the NA game.

Finally, people have to stop staring themselves blind at line numbers. Ever since AV became the coach here, line numbers haven't really meant much, he usually plays the top 9 relatively equally (although of course if a line goes hot, he will use that line more, as well as special circumstances requiring a specific line). But all things considered, ice time is relatively evenly distributed.

To use the last game against the Blues as an example, although Buch is on the 4th line, he still played 15:11 minutes. He had more ice time than Nash, Steps and Kreider. Hayes had the most with 18:10, and the only other person over 17 minutes was Zucc. So they are played very evenly.

AV is kind of predictable minutes wise. In close games he will roll who he thinks are his best two lines that night more but in blowouts he will get the 4 lines closer minutes. Against Detroit Zooks played almost 23 minutes in a 2-1 game.

hehe, yeah, that goes under the "special circumstances" i mentioned :)

My post wasn't as much aimed at you as in general (some people seemed miffed that Buch is on the 4th line).

In the old days some teams used their third lines as their "kid line". If PB plays well that may be were he goes in the future.

Zucc has gotten the most minutes of all our forward the last 2 seasons

Wow, points or no points Zucc was amazing tonight.

yes, he had an assist on the live game, but it was correctly removed - so a third excellent game this season without pts. It won`t be many pts. it seems, but still early in the season though. :)

 He's never had this many points so early in the season before and is still on pace for a 60 points season.

Horrible game last night against the Jets even if he scored. One of his worst games in a long time. Lost coverage on one of the Jets goals, took bad penalties and just struggled. Its ok though, he plays good pretty much every night and the other team rarely scores with him on the ice. He has turned into a goalscorer instead of a passer though, because no one can finish his passes lol...

horrible?

really?

nothing stood out to me.

honestly nobody really stood out as being horrible...the entire team just looked totally gassed...this is a super fast skating up tempo team. this many games in this short a time frame will kill your legs. they really need the upcoming 3 day rest.

Yes, Zuci was not gr8 last game, except the goal and some great passes to Zib which he missed on as usual. But the Stepan line was almost invisible again with no speed, and Vesey need to be moved down to the Hayes line.
Zuci should be playing with the Stepan & Nash. Buch should be back on the Zib line now that Kreider has more confident.

Im the biggest Zucc fan but he played bad. Multiple turnovers in his own sone, lost coverage on one of Jets goals, took a horrible interference penalty etc

Agree. Move Vesey down with Pirri and Fast. Buch back with Zib and Kreider.

Zucc-Step-Nash
KZB
Grabner-Hayes-Miller
Vesey-Pirri-Fast

He did make a bad read on the goal but he was not horrible for most the game in my opinion. He also had one givaway which is very unlike him this season but he also broke up numerous Jet's rushes and had a takaway of his own. The interference was not a horrible penalty. When a guy is hitting and playing defense those kind of penalties happen at times. There is a saying in basketball that if you show me a team that is not allowing any free throws Ill show you a team that is not playing hard defense. Zooks was one of our few forwards throwing the body last night. On the penalty Zooks was just trying to get in the other guys way to limit his speed and his stick got caught up. It was a penalty and the refs made the right call but horrible? Those kind of things happen all the time in hockey. Some get called. Some do not. We can't micromanage every split second decision of players looking for something close to perfection. Almost every guy on the ice will make a mistake or two or three every game. I think we sometimes forget that Zooks was a undrafted undersized free agent who has always been on bargain contracts because he has played so great for us the last 4 years. We should not set the bar so high that only a Crosby or other superstar might reach it. He is actually on pace for almost 40 goals. That is nuts for a guy that is such an unselfish player. Zooks is a good top 6 winger but he will make mistakes and have some off games like 95% of the league.

I didnt catch the game, but NHL stats has him listed as 1 turnover 1 takeaway

was he actually that bad?

No he was not. Most the team had some issues because they did not have their legs. Zooks was not "that bad". He had a very nice goal and misread a Jets goal (probably because he was somewhat tired). The penalty was just a hockey play that happens 500 times a season. Zooks was trying to get in the way of a Jet entering the zone and his stick got caught up. It was not that big of a deal.

Justin Tuck (former NY Giant) is a big Rangers fan. He was interviewed by Amanda Borges yesterday. He was asked, Justin if there was one Ranger player that you think could translate his skill and talent to the football field? Justin said, Now...oh its hard, Honestly I would probably go with Zook. Even though he is one of the smaller ones, he has the heart of a pit bull. I think that would really really go well on the football field. :)

I thought Zuke was fine yesterday, the game before I thought he was a disaster, he couldn't make a pass to save his life which is very usual since his passes are normally spot on.

I don't think he was very sharp in either game with regard to his passing. I still have no problem moving him if it ends up with Trouba in a Ranger uniform.

No points tonight but he played great! Tons of chances and best cf% by everyone on our team tonight(58%). Points will come if he continues to play like tonight! Got dobbelshifted ALOT aswell, played over 21 minutes! Fast(wtf?) played the next most by our forwards with a little over 18 minutes.

Two of his better games have been against Detroit and tonight, he registered exactly 0 points in those games.

I'll take this effort from him though. His line was excellent.
