Mason McTavish - One of the greatest plays in WJC history?

Love me some Ebs, and I cheered hard on his miracle tying goal.

The McTavish save left me dumbfounded though. It was a whole new level of WTF. I didnt even know how to react. It takes the W away from Eberle IMHO

Just when you think this tournament couldn't possibly have any more new ways to create a game for the ages Mason McTavish comes along like Mr Miyagi catching a fly with chopsticks and picks that puck out of the air on the goal line.

what are the odds of that puck not bouncing in the net...and then to have the poise to not panic and get control of the thing..

Bless my soul
Mac was on a roll
Player of the week in every puck opinion poll
What a pro
Mac could stop a show
Point him at a rink and you're talking SRO
He was a no one
A zero, zero
Now he's a honcho
He's a hero
Here was a kid with his act down pat
From zero to hero in no time flat
Zero to hero just like that (snaps)
When he smiled
The girls went wild with
Oohs and aahs
And they slapped his face
On ev'ry wall
(On ev'ry "wall")
From appearance fees and royalties
Our Mac had cash to burn
Now nouveau riche and famous
He could tell you
What's a Canuck urn?
Say amen
There he goes again
Sweet and undefeated
And an awesome 10 for 10
Folks lined up
Just to watch him flex
And this perfect package
Packed a pair of pretty pecs
Mackie, he comes
He sees, he conquers
Honey, the crowds were
Going bonkers
He showed the moxie brains, and spunk
From zero to hero a major hunk
Zero to hero and who'da thunk
Who put the glad in gladiator?
McTavish!
Whose daring deeds are great theater?
McTavish
Isn't he bold?
No one braver
Is he sweet
Our fav'rite flavor
McTavish, McTavish ...
Bless my soul
Mac was on a roll
Undefeated
Riding high
And the nicest guy
Not conceited
He was a nothin'
A zero, zero
Now he's a honcho
He's a hero
He hit the heights at breakneck speed
From zero to hero
Mac is a hero
Now he's a hero
Yes indeed!

Probably one of the best plays I've watched live in hockey. I mean, I thought for sure that was a goal, I had no idea how it could've possibly been kept out without a ridiculous play and when I saw the replay immediately after the game winning goal it surpassed my expectations. Such a deft play, I'll never forget it.

Or NOT bouncing out to the Finnish players hovering?

It falls STRAIGHT down and then comes straight up/down again and again. Bedard and McT are swinging away, yet somehow they don't put it in their own net. Heck, McT, with any momentum, might have knocked it in with his body.

You could not duplicate that in a million years. It was nothing short of a "miracle (on ice)".

He has ice in his veins. To be that cold blooded and focused to pull off something so clutch is mind-blowing.

It was an unreal play that capped off one of the best individual performances ever over the course of a WJC tourny.

I thought he was succeeding due to his extreme physical maturity, but he's just a great hockey player.

He also tied Gretzky & Lindros 17 pts performances.

Schenn tied the Canadian record of 18 in 2011.

Legendary performance by McTavish.

And he did it on his backhand. I'm not sure if that makes a difference at that level, but I just started playing recently in my 30's. Doing anything on the backhand side feels at least twice as hard.
