funny.

I don't like soft hockey players and I associate the Lady Byng with soft players.

you folks can like the soffness of the team, I will ALWAYS call it for what it is.

There's a mindset that players need (that the Rangers forwards lack for the most part) to play with an edge to their game.

You mean for what you think it is :p: :D.

MSL is obviously a superior player to Callahan and we are going for the Cup this and next year. Long term losing the draft picks will hurt, but the hope is that we win the Cup.

In 4 years we will need to rebuild either way.Take MSL, Richards, Nash, maybe Staal and others off the team, and whats left?

I'm so confused by this. what?

Take all the "stars" off the team and what do we have? was that the question?

Well we have this one guy in net for 8 years. I hear he likes to win.
We have girardi for 5 years and if sather has not developed down syndrome we'll lock down a possible future norris winner in McD aswell.

Call me crazy but we're not heading to the basement just yet.

For the record, MSL can easily have a few more 50pt~ seasons in him if he really felt like it. The guy is a freak of nature. He's Gary Roberts v2.0

I bet Detroit really hates Pavel Datsyuk, what a big soft wuss he his.

Are you serious? Taking tofnuss to a whole new level of absurdity. Great job man.

It's really not that confusing to be honest.

Can't stop time. Several players who are filling key roles will be gone in 4-5 years by the natural progression of things, we likely won't face a complete rebuild but will have to retool on the fly to fill holes. If we can't through UFA/trade for whatever reason then the process may take some more time.

The guy has always been money in the playoffs. 5 points in 3 games is not surprising. Let's hope he keeps it going.

There's an incorrect assumption here made by you that your opinion accurately represents fact in this case when it doesn't. Provide evidence that the team is too soft. In order to prove the "too" part of it you'd have to show that the team is legitimately hurt by this to a degree where they can't make up for it in other areas (like D, skill or goal-tending) while other teams clearly have an advantage.

I have to believe you're exaggerating and that you realize MSL being nominated does not suddenly turn McD, girardi, Carcillo, Dorsett, etc into weak pathetic puppy dogs.

The team hits, blocks and battles for pucks way too hard for me to buy that one player being nominate for the Bing is representative of anything outside of MSL's on ice conduct.

Yeah...for the time being, we won this trade....only need to see what the draft ramifications are going forward.
The debate on St. Louis was not if he was ever going to score, but when. And if that is enough. Again, short of a Cup, Tampa wins the trade by getting the picks.

But that has been debated and redebated. I certainly hope that his scoring leads to the promised land.

No for awhile there it was if not when. More typical overreactions from this fanbase. Nope he's washed up, not the same PPG player from Tampa. Rangers lost the trade.

By the way you need to start adding "in my opinion" to your posts rather than trying to present your analysis as fact.

I laugh at how half the main board thread about the Lady Byng is about how St Louis isn't eligible for the award because he wanted to be traded to New York. And all of them seem to know that the only explanation of the St Louis trade was the he was pissed at Yzerman. Drama queens.

Calling out folks as drama queens for calling out MSL for being a drama queen.

I submit that in my opinion if the Rangers do not win a Cup during his 1.25 years here, that the trade will be a bust.

What if..

Cally doesn't re-sign with the Bolts..and both draft picks they get from us are busts and never play an NHL game.

And MSL gets us to say the ECF.

It's still a bust?

there are way too many moving parts to say with any sort of certainty that if A happens then it's a win, otherwise its a bust.

It's a trade I was against, but that was because of the unknowns and MSLs age...not because its SC or bust.

To me, yes. But that is just my opinion. Because the risk/reward is too high. And this is not an inditement of MSL. But rather the trade.

The trade was a win. I'm almost always for keeping an eye on the future, but when you have one of the best goalies in the world in his prime, you go for the cup.

i dont get it...how could that possibly be true? If we get to the ECF thanks to MSL, and Cally didnt do crap for the Bolts, they got swept, and all the picks they get from us end up never playing in the NHL...it's still a bust trade for us?

seriously?

We would in all likelihood not draft the same players that Tampa will draft with those picks. You can't use whoever Tampa drafts to evaluate the trade. Its a useless argument that people will undoubtedly bring up for years either way.

MSL rocking in the playoffs so far (as well as the last few regular season games) is making the trade taste a bit sweeter.

We also have MSL all year next year. If he keeps playing like his old self I think it's a win. I personally would have rather acquired a good prospect and a 1st round pick, but if we were going to snag a veteran, MSL is the player to gamble on.

I didn't think someone was going to post a more ridiculous comment then mine in this thread, but bravo.

Sportsmanship and a high level of play is a negative? Yikes.

Call in the goon squad, let's get some GRIT in here.

I don't care about sportsmanship. **** sportsmanship

talent being equal, I'll take the guy that has an edge to his game over the guy that doesn't.

Because when the talent levels are equal, it's the guys that are willing to do whatever is necessary to win games.

I see that in too few of our players.

Yeah, who the **** would want this guy? :shakehead:help:
