We saw a few good minutes on the powerplay.

I hope hes coming out of it, but the dynamic player hasn't been there at even strength. In fact, I think the Nash-Stepan-MSL line was the worst at even strength last night -- but Ill take it if the PP keeps delivering.

I agree. He gets taken out of the play too easily and sometimes decides against the better hockey play because he'll get destroyed. Hope he makes more of an impact ES.

Granted. Hes going to have to be a bit better at es but the development of zuccs line makes relying on MSL es production less of a necessity. Hes going to get his proper coverage but will start to see better mis matches in his favor.

MSL "lost"? I don't think so.

What I see is a guy who is usually 2-3 steps ahead of everyone else on a given play when he has the puck. (not actaul steps, not talking about his skating speed, or Stepan either) Our players are starting to anticipate what he might do and that's why it looks like HE is doing better.

Yes, he is also adjusting to AV's system, but the Rangers are also catching on as to just how creative this guy can be.

It's going to get better as the playoffs go on.

He was decent in game 1. Still can be much better though. If he does hit full stride, no team can stop the Rangers imo.

This is a far cry from what many posters (not necessarily yourself) were saying at the trade deadline. This team isn't a contender, look to the future, MSL won't put us over the top, blah blah blah.

I know most probably won't agree with me, but if St. Louis can become the ES threat he was in Tampa, there is not a team in the league that can shut down our entire offensive group. The emergence of the Zuccarello line is what has done this.

You need to pick between Zucc and MSL (if he gets going) and even then, they're such shifty creative players they're hard to shut down. Wish we could have Nash on a different line but doesn't look like that's happening. Combine that with a top 3 defensive group in the league with McD, Staal and Girardi with Lundqvist who can steal a bad game here or there, and it's going to be tough to find a team that can score and defend against the rangers.

The problem with this team the last 5 playoff years or so was that we were good on ES but lousy on the PPs. In fact, we lost every series because the PP was atrocious. So even though MSL is below average on ES but helps our PP score at a 20% clip in the playoffs. I think we will go very far!!

Even with how deep we are this year, I just don't think this team has that extra gear. I see another ECF loss against the B's or Pens. The West is just too big and strong for us. Think the Flyers kill us on the forecheck? Don't even get me started on the Hawks, Sharks, Blues, Ducks, or Kings.

Maybe MSL and Richards get hot and leas us to the SCF, but any of those West teams will shut us down.

I don't know why you throw the Hawks into those physical teams.

Though I didn't like how he left, he was always clutch. However because of his age and declining legs, he can't simply dominate a whole game anymore.

No, not really. They simply do not match up well against us for whatever reason. Seriously, if Giroux didn't take that cross check on the Flyers goal, I wouldn't have even known he was playing.

Wings made Boston look stupid last night. We play a similar game. No more trying to outmuscle and grind them like in years past. We have a 4th line that can go toe to toe with theirs this year.

Kreider will be back for ECF. He will be huge for us.

Re last part

That's why hes a good fit. We 're not asking him to do that. Were asking him be dangerous enough that it makes the opposition think abt who gets prime d match ups.

Hes got to produce no question but he doesn't have to carry the team

The Rangers were 14-13-1 against the West this year and a lot of those games were in the beginning of the season when the team had no idea what they're doing. I'm more worried about getting past the Flyers than if we match up well against the Western Conference teams.

Thought he was better today, and not just because of the goal. Really starting to feel like Nash is holding him back. He is a pedestrian on that line right now.
