Confirmed with Link: Martinez to Vegas

Vegas’s #1 problem has always been their D. That’s why they got bodied by Washington a couple years ago. No one to consistently match up against the Ovechkin line. Juiced Schmidt was the closest they got to a #1D and he was more like a 1B than a true 1.

Martinez doesn’t solve that problem, but he does give them depth and experience, obviously.
Maybe they were impressed with Marty on that infamous 5 on 3.

If that’s what Blake gets for Martinez I’d be ecstatic . The vision is in full effect if that’s what Martinez returns . We need skill and balance throughout lineup and I like our chances of competing again for playoffs in 2 years with the prospects we have . Carolina is a great example of what I imagine I want our team to resemble all homegrown talent and depth throughout lineup. Carolina just needs a goalie and they can win a cup .

If we somehow draft Lafrenière, the timetable speeds up considerably. But we’ll have to see how it all shakes out.

Agree . I hope the hockey gods smile upon us this time around . We would look incredible can’t even draw up a lineup without thinking oh but maybe this player should be here lol .

Lafrenniere-Vilardi-
Kaliyev-Kopitar-
Iaffalo-Turcotte-
Kempe-JAD-

Then you have Fagemo , Madden , Kupari , Grundstrom , Thomas , Prokhorkin and any prospects from this years draft as well. Idk the lines are interchangeable obviously some prospects will be moved out for established players but man looks much better . Let’s Get IT !!!

Bjornfot-Doughty

then you have Anderson , Clague , Nousianen , Durzi , Roy , Walker , Spence , Moverare

Petersen
Quick

very hard to predict with so many possibilities. Good problem to have and about damn time

With his age and mileage, getting two 2nds and a top 5 prospect for AMart from an organization would be a grand slam home run.

If his value has increased due to the fact he isn’t a rental just shows that the UFAs traded this season could have gotten better returns if traded last season or over the summer.

For all the wait for the deadline people, that's not how they operate. They do their homework on what comparable trades with similar players with similar term left has historically returned. That's their threshold for accepting a trade proposal. Once the threshold has been met, they pull the trigger. This was explained in detail during a season ticket holder meeting by the FO when Muzzin was traded. All sorts of charts and slides were shown on how they came to the valuation. Obviously, the requirements were met for what TT was valued at and now Martinez.

If we got a prospect plus 2 x 2nd rounders that would be a pretty strong haul. Next, Trevor Lewis or Jeff Carter. I don't think Carts gets traded though. That threat of retirement would really hurt the cap.

We're only hearing two second rounders from McKenzie so I'll guess we'll have to be patient to see if a prospect is also included.

Only? 2 second rounders is overpay for a 32 year old Martinez...even with 1 year on a good contract.

The Kings will have 10% of all second rounders that make the NHL over the next 4 years. lol

Grundstrom, Durzi, Clague, JAD, Kaliyev, Fagemo, Thomas, Madden,...

Man this one hurts. It has to happen, but man it sucks.

In just under 2 weeks time the entire line that scored the GWG in game 5 is gone.

If we get two 2nds rounders for him then its a great pick up!

Wish Marty nothing but the best.

The "only" is referring to the mention of a prospect by Hoven.

Toffoli was in the midst of his worst season last year. As mentioned last season, the best move was to hold him and hope for Toffoli to bounce back, which he did. I think he has more value now than at last TDL and over the summer.

GMs are in the thick of it and want to try and get as deep of a run as possible. They don't have the same mindset over the summer. They are just smarter now than they used to be so they aren't ponying up as much for a pure rental but that guy with additional term needs to be a good player on a good cap hit.

Newsflash - this team at the absolute bottom of the league two years in a row. What'd you expect?
I expect more than 1 goal, 31 giveaways, a minus 9 and a 1.7 shooting percentage. I just hope Amart can pass a physical based on his play and injury history the last 3 seasons. Vegas probably has one of those pesky MRI machines.

Agree. Yes, the team is trash but it wasn't like I was missing Martinez's game while he was out with injury.

Guy is a Kings legend but moving him now, before he can get hurt again, is the right move: especially if Blake gets this prospect on top of two 2nds.

And nobody needs a guy like Clifford with a year left either. Or in the summer. He's the perfect deadline UFA guy.

He's a 3rd pair D on a contender, a top 4 guy on a playoff team, and a top 2 guy on a bottom 10 team.

It's a good thing that NHL scouts/staff are pretty good at realizing that transposing a player from a shitty situation on a shitty last place team to a more flexible situation on a much better team will pay dividends, or tanking teams would never be able to move their players.

Relatedly, Tanner Pearson is on pace for 57 points.

4 what it's worth there are a few rumors that have AMart going to the Oil out in the ether.

Big ol grain of salt but the oil are in the mix or so it seems.
