It's time to move on from Martinez but it still sucks. An iconic member of the Kings during the golden years, that's for sure. The game 7 OT goal against the Hawks and the cup clincher will always rank among the greatest moments in team history.

No need to be sad, when AMart's career is over you can bet we're bringing him back for a Legends Night every single season. Hell, sometimes twice a season so we can celebrate both series clinching OT goals.

I hate to see them go, but there's going to be some good legends nights 7-8 years from now. With players who actually did something, which will be a nice change.

Martinez was the one guy out of the group that I felt the Kings should keep. He's got term, affordable, can still play....someone has to teach these young guys the ropes on the blue line.

If Blake gets two 2nd round picks and Zach Whitecloud I’d imagine we would all be happy with that return ? Now makes sense why Whitecloud has been playing this past 2 weeks . We were scouting him. So next year we start playing and developing the prospects . I hope Blake resembles Yzerman as a GM which is starting to look likely.

During a run on a specific asset, your best bet is to sell. Odds are we got the most we could for Marty.
His metrics are bad and is on the wrong side of 30.. Although, I thought we should have sold Toffoli at the TDL, look what just happened with Van finding out they just lost some guys for the season rather than a few weeks.. Still think Van trades for Top Titty knowing this??

There's no given that prices will rise, its possible that GMs are most desperate to grab their guy today given the run on defensemen and the guys who miss out might resolve to stick with what they have over the next few days. Also, if Blake's no longer fielding calls for Martinez he can spend time trading other guys.
You can maybe get a better return for Martinez by waiting a few days but risk that being your only trade and end up holding onto the lesser expiring UFAs, or you can take the Martinez haul now and work on getting picks for Lewis and Hutton.
I'm not convinced either is the best route, but I'm willing to risk it for a shot at moving as many players as we can.

Martinez was the one player I was hoping Kings would keep around as well. We need veteran dmen regardless . Interesting Blakey said move all players for picks and prospects this year and next year get into phase 2, which I’m guessing is playing and developing the players . Looking at the success of Carolina , Flyers , Blue Jackets and Isles I think we make the playoffs in 2 years

Plz tell me this years draft is supposed to be a good one . We will have 8 picks in the first 4 rounds considering the fact we will be getting a 2nd this year and a 2nd next year
