Typical sensationalism of today’s world.

He was probably more upset than anyone with the outcomes of his lack of effort.

I have a strong suspicion that we will see a much better effort from him next game. Just want to clarify that many of the negative comments regarding his game are warranted but we all have our good and bad days at work… in life. It’s what you do following those days that means more than that bad day itself.

Figured this was thread worthy simply because the last time he did something whiny it got Babcock fired. This was during a timeout in the third where Keefe called him out for his bad mistakes leading to Anaheims two goals, and then he benched Marner. What’s going on in Toronto?

EDIT: Figured I should mention that this was when the Leafs were up by a goal in the third, and he took off before thinking of acknowledging his own mistakes.

If I were a leaf fan I am happy he is showing some emotion.

Honestly, I have often wanted a scream room at work. Other times, I have found myself needing to go for a walk to cool down, more then a few times I was the main culprit causing my need to cool down. Can't expect any different for an NHL'r.

When I first saw this, I thought he left the bench as to quit on the team after being benched. Good on him that this didn't happen, but why not break the stick at the bench instead of disappearing into the hallway to do it. Think the point would have been more effective with a natural reaction and not one after the fact. As tantrums go, this one is a 0.5/10.

Reactions: Sean Garrity
In the game against the Sharks in which the Leafs lost, Marner had the puck at the start of OT 1 vs 1 against Mario Ferraro (who??) and Ferraro plastered him into the boards. Marner was seen hitting the bench boards with his stick and yelling as he hopped back onto the bench.

It's becoming a trend and he's losing his composure very frequently.

Its so cringe. Id have this guy off my team the next day.

Gallagher is a similar loser too. f***ing hate babies.

(I was just like that when I played and things didn't go my way, I was 15-22 back then, Marner (and f***ing Gallagher even more) should both be passed that.)

How is that even close? Its not a tantrum, its on the fly problem solving.

Running away to smash things is just so cringe.

To some people the phrase “so cringe” is worse than stick breaking. Life is subjective.

Showing emotion is fine but what I don't like is how Marner was yelling at Holl even though Marner himself was making just as many bad plays. It shows that he doesn't think he makes mistakes, he probably was mad that his team was playing poorly. I doubt he ever reflects upon his own play.

Is that it? Looks like he just walked away casually. Was he even mad? If this is a tantrum, damn. You're in for a surprise when you see an actual tantrum.

Seems like no big deal. I've seen Perry overhand two head tomahawk a stick in half or throw it down the hallway at least once per year in his tenure with the Ducks. The look on Getzlaf's face was always priceless during those .

He was probably mad mostly at himself, which explains why he didn't direct it to anyone in particular. When an NHL coach says you f***ed up, they're usually not wrong.

Seen this before and its not a huge deal. Would rather see the player just flip out a bit on the bench though. The whole getting up grabbing his gloves thinking the whole time and then getting a stick and walking down the tunnel is too much. Also he should have remained benched the remainder of that game.

After reading the title, then watching the video I went out to my garage and broke a stick.
