The guy needed to take a shit. Calm down.
“Calm down”…

Tell it to Marner.

And again, a tantrum isn’t really a big deal. But leaving the bench to do it (esp after having been benched) is not something that “happens all the time.” Stop trying to normalize it.

Are we supposed to have a problem with this? Not a huge Marner fan, but I don't see what the big deal is here.

Here's Malkin, Kessel and Sullivan all getting into it on route to winning a Cup. This stuff happens.

You dont understand. They won the Cup so it was a winner's spirit.

if the Leafs win the Cup this year OP will look back at this "incident" and say that Marner had a winner spirit that brought back Toronto in

LOL you are trying SO hard.

Guy left the bench during the TV time out and its caused a habs fan to be tremendously offended. Lil mitchy witchy hurt your feewings, get over it.

Nah. It didn’t hurt my feelings. But I think it underscores a real problem in TO. Keefe took a half measure in benching him for a shift. He should’ve benched him for the game after that incident.

From a Habs perspective? I think it’s great. But that’s not what I’m talking about here.

Keefe took the full measure of benching him for a shift. Show me one example of a 100 point winger being benched for the rest of the game.

Oh, but you said the problem was that he left the bench during a TV timeout, weird that now youre (totally not) upset about something else.

TV timeout is irrelevant. As for a 100 point winger being benched? Cooper did it with Kucherov and he was a Hart winner.

Honest question: do you think the incident undermines Keefe? I think it does. And this is about a week after an incident where Marner comes out of a meeting with him and is quoted as saying we ‘discussed what he meant to say’ after Keefe said something along the lines that his best players had to play better…

Matthews has that aura of being able to handle things. I don’t see that with Marner. And I think Keefe has let the tail wag the dog a little bit. He should’ve just dropped the hammer and set the order. In my opinion that was a mistake.

Again, from a Hab perspective I hope nothing changes… but that’s just shitposting. Not what I came here to do.

Fair enough with Kuch, thats almost a 1:1 comparison even though the leafs were winning when Marner was benched.

To answer your "honest" question, i dont care. I dont know the details and neither do you. you just latch onto whatever the media (or HF says, apparently) and pretend like its a fact so you can "shitpost" about the leafs. which is exactly why youre here.

People like you, calling this a tantrum and pretending to be "concerned" about the leafs is just straight trolling. Calling it shitposting is just to pretend thats not what youre doing.

Setting the Tantrum qualifying bar at ankle height by using the Glen 'Glue gun' Gulitzan stick toss as a bench mark, this particular incident doesn't meet the bar.

The 'put shambles in our brains' comment though, that's an idiom for the ages.

I’m not concerned for the Leafs. Nor am I pretending to be.

Like it or not they’re an interesting story right now, particularly Marner. I’ve said what I’ve said because it’s an interesting storyline. In my opinion, Keefe needs to be way more assertive here. I don’t like what I’ve seen from Marner. It’s going to be interesting watching it unfold.

"...the last time he did something whiny it got Babcock fired..."

Wait, what? By "tantrum" in this case, do you happen to mean being betrayed by a narcissist that forced sensitive information from him about his teammates then shared with them without his permission? Or is there some other "tantrum" I'm forgetting?

Marner was betraying himself and his teammates with his divisive self-centeredness. You can't win if you think your teammates are shit or if you think you are better than them. Marner should be thinking about how he should improve, not blaming losses on the poor play of his teammates.

You have to adopt a team-mindset; you can't let yourself think in "me,them" terms because it will subconsciously bleed into your play. You start to distrust your teammates, and you detach your sense of success from the team's success.

What should've been a learning moment turned into an ego-affirming mega coddling for Marner.

This is...not how it happened.

Good sentiment but it's clear you didn't follow what happened between Marner and Babcock
