94 points is worth 13 mil in my book.

Yeah no one else would ever pay that much, but screw it, we're the Leafs, let's own this shit.

If Tavares can get near 70 points, that's worth a cool 10 milly.

Get them back on board and just shuffle around the 4th line and bottom pairing d and I think that might just work.

what was Nylander doing wristing the puck on net from the point on the Knies goal anyway? why would a forward be out that far from the net even? pathetic stuff from him, shots from that distance are the hallmark of unserious players on an unserious team, and there is no chance of them ever resulting in a goal. Marner's influence growing like a cancer
Lol, got to love the strawman fallacies the Marner Only Fans come up with.

- Marner doesn’t go anywhere near the net. That’s the difference.

To put it into visual perspective for you, here are last year's 5v5 playoff shot locations: Mitch Marner in 7 games versus William Nylander in just 4 games.

Please enjoy:

But the losses seem to be pinned on one guy. Does it not mean the successes should be pinned on the same guy? If Mitch plays poorly in games 1-4 we don’t get to games 5-7 anyway. If Mitch plays poorly during the regular season we don’t make the playoffs anyway
Ridiculous.

Say player A scores two goals, and player B makes two bad mistakes and you lose 3-2. All other things being equal, player B deserves a lot of the blame.

Say player A scores two goals, there are no bad mistakes, and you win 2-1. All other things being equal, does player B deserve a lot of the credit?

Shows up when he wants Nylander has 1 less point than always working hard Marner.
The reputation of these guys is odd considering the production is the same. One is called lazy and the other is called always trying
Also, one guy scores goals while the other one almost never scores and instead has compiled a ton of points by passing to the best goal scorer in hockey. Oh yeah, the guy that scores goals also does NOT disappear 4 games into the playoffs.

Another 2 pp assists yesterday. 2 goals in 13 games...on pace for 12 goals. And this is at his best, playing his butt off for that big contract.
Marner gets a lot of existing on the first line/PP passer assist points.

Perhaps that's why the advanced stats didn't like him last year.

He really doesn't generate alot of offense on his own. He has 2 goals and 3 primary assist 5v5.

His 5v5 3 primary assists are nothing to write home about.

1) One was a clearing attempt from his own zone that took a lucky bounce and Tampas players ran into eachother.
2) One was by Marners own admission a play Matthews called telling him and Knies he was gonna win it forward and told them to go the net.
3) The last one was a set play high low and Matthews scored from the top of the face-off dot.

Lol.. Marner fans trying to explain the visible difference in Marners "compete level" and him going dirty areas this year vs not doing it in previous years.

"It must have been Keefe who told him to play with no heart before!!"

We should be angry that he wasn't doing this in the past playoffs...not excited he's doing it in a contract year season.
I'm not getting the venom in the least.

It might be that many "Marner fans" are first and foremost Leafs fans.

Admittedly, I've been on either side of the coin. Had a signature that read, "Make Mine Marner" before he was drafted. This past season called for his dispatch.

But why should fans be angry NOW that he didn't play like he has been lately?

Talk about a zero sum game when it should be framed as a win-win situation:

(1) If Marner returns to form and plays lights out in the playoffs, and we succeed, we win.
(2) If he doesn't, we win for the reasons repeated ad infinitum.

My mind is firmly looking to July 1st, 2025. I have zero expectations this year precisely because we'll have more answers in the summer of 2025 and probably more money to address outstanding issues.

And its completely plausible Keefe's directive was different from Berube's. I wouldn't care if it was Justin Bieber behind the bench getting Marner to buy-in, I'm a LEAFS fan and want the club to do well.

And if we get a certain version of Marner and do well in the playoffs, you might have to admit something horrifying:

That you're a "Marner fan" too.

If he can get his goal totals up this season will end like the rest

100+ points or pace or whatever people like arguing about here, but the G column has to go up. The assists are there like every year

I don't even care about the goals, I just want him to produce offence in the playoffs the same way he does in the regular season. Instead, he drops off so badly after 4 games, that overall he produces at only a 70 point pace in the playoffs compared to 100 points in the regular season.

How’s your golden boy Domi doing in the goal scoring department? Don’t hear you bitching about his goal scoring production much. How’s his primary assist numbers looking as well?
Lol compared to Marners two goals? He still has more primary assists 5v5 than Marner this year and only two goals less while playing primarily 3rd line with scrubs. Leave it to a Marner Only Fan to brag it up that 11 million Marner has 2 goals more than an averaged paid 3rd liner.

I’m a maple leafs fan. Even your jokes are a pile of dog shit. Come up with something at least funny or creative lol.

also seems like you were wrong again about Marner driving the bus on playing with Matthews. As suspected it’s been Matthews driving that throughout the organization all along.

10:40 mark they reference Elliot Fried’s 32 thoughts where he reported Matthews has been extremely vocal that he wants to play with Marner. Just like many of us suspected. Marner is on that top line because the best player in the organization wants him there.

I actually want to see Marner with JT, I think splitting the two big guys is better for us in the playoffs. But it’s funny how we constantly harp on Marner as being entitled when it seems like Matthews is pretty much getting whatever he wants. I’m sure all the top guys are, but we have to look at the situation for what it is. 34 has a huge say clearly and they want to keep him happy.

Lol I've never said Marner is driving the bus on playing with Matthews...ever.

I don't think hockey players have that kind of power.
