Lol Vegas is absolutely stacked from top to bottom.... Bettman is getting his way but as a long time fan now seeing how low tax states are winning every year with an incredible advantage... im losing interest. There has only been one season since 2017 where a low tax state wasn't in the finals. Eichel signed for 13.5 million, one month after Kaprizov signed for 17 million. 3.5 million to upgrade a different area of your team is huge.

Marchand even admitted it and said that the advantage meant Panthers kept two additional players that otherwise they wouldn't have.
This is interesting.

I wonder how many NHL fans' rooting interests are based on the tax laws. Seems like a somewhat niche focus.

There are other interesting considerations:
-Due to consumption taxes and government fees, Nevada actually ranked 26 out of 50 in overall tax burdens in the USA. More expensive than Missouri, North Carolina and Michigan... all which have NHL teams and Personal Income Tax. Also more expensive than Texas and Florida which also do not have state income tax.
-Players have to pay income taxes in all states they play games in, I believe.
- There are other quality of life issues that are a detrimental to low tax states vs high tax states.

The people who turn every conversation into tax misinformation are idiots and should be ignored. You're wasting your time, man. They've not given it any thought other than being mad about it.

Can you imagine if Marner was playing against real nhl competition this year like he did when he was with Toronto?

Even better

Can you imagine if Marner played for the Knights this whole time and won multiple Cups and Conn Smythe trophies already?

damn bro

I need some vaseline ASAP!

Marner has always been better than Mattews.

Matthews being a 2 way player is the biggest lie in the NHL

the year Mattews was 2nd in Selke votes was hilarious.
He wasn't even the 2nd best defensive forward for the Leafs let alone the NHL

I think he's trolling for fun though

which is fine

I'm okay people trolling sarcastically for fun

He's pretty good defensively. It's overblown how good, but for a #1 offensive C he's one of the best defensively. Why he gets bit overrated is probably because people misinterpret stats. Matthews style doesn't put the puck on his stick too much. So it creates a very good takeaway vs. giveaway ratio.

who's trolling, me?

lol no way man, Marner deserves every bit of praise. It's just picture perfect.

As a Leafs fan the good news is that it might actually wake up this franchise and take a long hard look at themselves, because losing Mitch is quite possibly the biggest f-up in all of their history. I'd be open to hearing any other situations in this team's 100+ year past that was as bad as this ?

Ok, so I am one of those Vegas fans that the old hockey fans that are 20 yrs younger than me want to laugh at for being newer to the sport and not owning O6 pajama bottoms.

How is a natural hat trick different than... an unnatural one? Does the latter involve pointy hats, ritualistic sacrifice and incantations??

Asking for a friend... or just myself.

Natural hat trick just means the player scored 3 consecutive goals without a teammate scoring in between the players three goals.

Scoring three consecutive goals is a natural hat trick, naturally ...

I don't know what it would have been called if Marner converted the penalty shot into four consecutive goals ... maybe a supernatural hat trick ? :hockey:

A Marner

But that might be if you score 1 Even Strength Goal 1 Power Play Goal and 1 Short Handed Goal.

A natural hat trick is also uninterrupted by any goals scored by the opposing team.

lol now it’s Bettman’s fault? What tf does Bettman have to do with MITCH MARNER’S hat trick?
He really doesn't. Its a smoke screen.

I have researched the real inputs from the experienced and observational fans of the HFB. To whit:

The important aspect to Marner's success is the fact that he plays on a team with no state income tax. This instantly improves his statistical accomplishments in both regular season and postseason.

The other factor, apparently, is the fact that he now plays on the west coast which means any home game that goes into overtime allows him to get more stats cause time works different here.

I think we also might have better barbers though this hypothesis does not have sufficient observational criteria.
