He lost the room because of what he did to a 19 year old kid. Made him name the 5 worst players on the team and because he had no choice he named himself and 4 other players. Babcock then told the room what the kid told him. Right there he list the room.

That’s not what happened. Babcock accidentally mentioned Marner’s list to one of the players names in a 1 on 1 meeting. It wasn’t right, so there’s no reason to make up lies to make it sound worse.

If babcock was still here matthews and marner wouldn’t be playing together and both would still be getting 15 minutes a night and guys like hyman would be getting 20.

Babcock was trying to push the young guys to be better by holding them accountable. He wants them to play like Hyman and Marleau, so he played those guys more.

0/10 reading comprehension, I addressed this.

But if you only care about results, there is no way you are in any thread bad-mouthing Tavares, clearly worth his contract.

What shot has been taken away? He is 2nd in the league in shots.

bad angle shots are as good as passing it to the goalie

YES, FIRE MANAGEMENT! TRADE EVERYONE! BACK TO THE BASEMENT AGAIN! MAYBE THIS TIME WE'LL GET A 1ST OVERALL! ONLY TOOK 30 YEARS LAST TIME...
Why not? We tried 6 years with the same core and can't pass the first round in the playoffs.

Something is wrong with this team. Either players or management has to change.

And we are relying on Murray (made out of glass) and Samsonov (not ruling him out yet) as our goalkeepers?

Ok let's try again but get the same result....

Matthews is the ONLY guy who put in the "effort" in Game 6 and Game 7 against both the Habs and Bolts. He was skating, hitting and what not. He was dragged down by his linemates.

It isn't any different this time around where Matthews is still playing fairly well its his linemates dragging him down and not doing a good job. Marner consistently loses puck/board battles. Bunting doesn't agitate or goes after pucks.

Plan for oppositin is clear:

Give the pass to Matthews and take away his shot; once Matthews passes to either marner or bunting pressure them because they absolutely SUCK ASS at holding on to pucks or winning board battles; get the puck and clear the zone
Perhaps I should have worded it as "too cool for school" or "too cool to care", as in won't take criticism. Thinks he's above it all. I used the wrong words lol.

I would like to publicly apologize to any Maple Leafs star players whom I may have offended.

In the regular season that’s reasonable. In the playoffs it’s stupid.

I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY DO BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW I CAN GO ON IF DUBAS WASN'T THE GM OF THE LEAFS

Well he is probably tired of it playing out in media all of the time. Or media blowing small things completely out of proportion.

Like every star player in Toronto ever.

Best thing for this team may be to shut out the media altogether. They are forced to talk, but just follow a basic script. And then come to a common agreement that nothing in media matters. If they bring something up, then plead the 5th or say we've already discussed it.

This feels like the beginning of the end for this regime. The GM won’t fire the coach but doesn’t have a contract and the stars seem to know. All I hope is the 1st rounder shouldn’t be on the block…it could be a much higher pick than expected

Definitely a strange situation. A lot of this is fundamentally a good example of how crazy the media is in this market where offhand comments end up being a major news story for the team the very next day.

That's sad I don't think it's a great look for Keefe to backtrack on it. Once it said might as well just lean into it. Marner didn't exactly respond well either. Keefe looks foolish now having backtracked (even if it was likely just trying to manage the media story - it backfired)

Still stuff like this can end up being forgotten in a couple weeks with a bunch of wins. Not to mention it still pales in comparison to those very public spats Wilson would get into all the time with guys like Kessel lol

They should just stop giving interviews altogether. Nobody wants to hear anymore of their platitudes anyway.

Obviously, not an option of course.

It's clear the top guys have all the power in the room. This team needs a huge shocking culture change, enough with the players having this much power.
If they want to have this much power over the coach and gm get off this team.
I would rather have less talented players who will give it their all and aren't entitled.

To set the stage the Maple Leafs were on a father son road trip when Mike Babcock confronted a then rookie Mitch Marner about what he perceived to be the young player's laziness on and off the ice. In an effort to drive his point home Mike Babcock asked Marner to create a list of all the players on the Maple Leafs roster and then asked him to rank them based on their respective effort level in that particular season. Marner obliged when his coach demanded this of him and according to multiple sources the player put his name in the very last spot on the list as if to acknowledge that he could work much harder. It was a show of maturity on the part of Marner but what the young Maple Leaf did not know at the time was that Babcock had planned to use that list against some of his other players.

Kinda disappointed Keefe went back on his words today, but I get it this is Toronto and you have to fan the fire before next week you see something like how the players and coaches don't like each other etc..

Does really feel like the inmates are running the prison here though.

If anything I think they do play like Marleau. You don’t enjoy an Ironman streak by playing physical hockey where you forecheck, crash the net and get in the face of the opponent.

Their point totals don't drop off enough from regular season to playoffs, if only we could have kept Marleau his last year so he could teach them the advanced secrets of choking.

A grown man would go in there and get his uniform dirty. A grown man would stand up for his captain when he is getting the crap beat out of him. A grown man wouldn't think he had to say anything when his team plays like shit for 55 minutes against the worst team in the league. And a grown man wouldn't have to feel obligated to tell anyone he is a grown man. As far as I'm concerned he is a whimpering baby, who will make this team so much better when he is someplace else.
*Two of the worst teams in the league

Mitch "the grown man" Marner would retire if Keefe did this.

You have been advocating Dubas being fired for a long time. It won't affect anyone. Some will think it is a bad move others will think it is a good move, but things will carry on as normal and people will find other things to whine about.
