If my coach came at me like that i would put laxative and some calming drug in his coffee. Or spray water at him . That style works with some player not with all. Not all players need a manic muppet going at them.
That said, what Keefe said should be nothing you take back or even have to explain. That was beyond stupid. It must be ok to give and even prefered to get negative feedback.

Maby it was just a "we know we suck right now, but you dont have to feed it to the wolfs" Moment. Who knows. Not a big deal. hope they bring it next game.

... who believe we've reached a status of being above public criticism, especially from the figureheads who act out the role of our leadership.

The media lives for this stuff. They can smell the blood in the water. They are going to circle this incessantly until they get the satisfaction of causing a change to the team in one way or another. This is how they endure months and months of samey uninteresting answers to samey inane questions covering a team and a sport they may or may not even like.

This is another story as old as professional sports. This is often an opening for a team to subtly cut back its effort and attention to detail.

Some are negative because of the results. Others are negative because that is who they are. There are many alternatives to this board other than DVRing cheerleaders. People can enjoy watching the game with friends and the like, or stay and take the whinny posters with a grain of salt.
Like last season, many of the whinny posters are patting themselves on their back with their I told you sos, and like last year most of them will disappear if the team starts winning.

Keefe made some comments about the star players, media of course blew it way out of proportion. Keefe had a conversation behind doors with the leadership group, same as any other team. Keefe then tried to clarify his statements to the media because he saw how they and some fans have completely overreacted to something minor.

This is honestly nothing, but of course the media in Toronto is trying to make it something. I guess this is what happens when people overreact after 4 games into the season.

I think the over reaction first came from Keefe then his star players. The media and fans had nothing to do with it.

Think you're missing the point. It WAS nothing but Keefe walking it back made it something.

There was ZERO need for Keefe to even do what he did unless of course it came from above. The whole thing just plays into the narrative that the team is mentally soft and coddled.

Keefe already has a rep of being “too chatty” in his scrums, all he had to say is it’s an internal matter, behind closed doors, like Marner did actually. You know what really went downhill Gary? Our expectations for this team and there was never a reason for that to happen. It's the product of organizational mismanagement. In the final year(s) of our most coveted players cost effective contracts, we should not be sitting here listening to team dramas and have a tender tandem this weak. .884 sv% on a "contender"?
