Marner on Keefe (If anyone watches old Twilight Zone episodes)

He was asked about the stick thing... and he said... that's what you do when your frustrated.

Marner is crumbling.... he screamed at holl and smashed his stick over the boards. Then he did a second stick smash in thr hallway later after he was benched for his second turnover.

Leadership is not smashing your stick and throwing tantrums. If anything his acts caused more harm to the teams confidence than good.
I'm ok with the stick smashing and venting. The problem to me is that he only did it after being disciplined for the first time ever.

Not after costing his team the goal.

On the Leafs Report podcast that was released today Mirtle and Jonas discussed what seems to be a growing story that Keefe and Marner are feuding.

And expects that the media that will be attending the Leafs practice tomorrow (which is expected to be an even bigger media presence that usual because of the recent drama) is expected to pounce on that story.

Mirtle predicts both sides will deny anything is going on then. But says that is clearly not the case between the two
Doesn’t Mirtle have inside info? Wonder if Keefe has been tough on Marner behind the scenes and has had discussions with him.

hey mitch here is a quote for you

He did not say that and even if he did, MM won’t know since he is not even married. Lol

I thought Mirtle is Dubas’s guy. Is he just spreading info out there and lay the ground work for one of their departures?

Maybe it’s just me but I feel like Keefe didn’t have to have a follow up on his comments. They played bad and he called them out. Are they that sensitive that the Leafs need to make sure there feelings weren’t hurt?
Seems to me that the Leafs have woke running the clown show. No one in the organization can say or do anything that hurts the other players feelings and if they do, they will get canceled out

Wow watching Keefe back pedal so much on such small comments and lie about the true meaning is pretty pathetic ahah, so happy we have a no bullshit straight up coach like Sutter, accountability goes a long way in a team sport.
The leafs had a coach that held players accountable but they fired him. Babcock. Trotz is in the same mold, he won't take the job if he isn't given full control. He isn't stupid enough to let Shanny and Dubas make his decisions.

One thing I would have to say in “defense” of Marner vs Keefe on the benching. While I agree with the coach that shots have to be fired and that Marner’s thin skinned and sloppy play deserved it, perhaps another player like Tavares or even Matthews would have been the better benching. Do it with a guy you can have a constructive follow up with, not a hissy fit inside a meltdown inside a bigger crisis.
Matthews' abysmal backchecking should have got him benched before Marner for sure. Shoulda sat both of them.

When Matthews and Marner play at a 1.4 ppg pace they are a .650 % team. When they are under PPG or hovering around PPG they are closer to .500. That's really telling because if they are all star level but not superstar level this team can't win. And in the playoffs when things get tight we basically come down to below league average in relation to playoff teams. So basically the success model of our team is based on Matthews-Marner being top 5 players in the league and when their not top 5 and closer to top 30 this team can't win. This is true in the playoffs. It also seems unrealistic they will go the entire season without one bad stretch and it seems unrealistic they will go an entire playoff series at 1.4 ppg.

So is this on Matthews-Marner for not playing like freakish gods for an entire 82 or is it on Dubas for not having enough depth scoring? To me all problems lead back to Dubas and the construction of this team. Matthews-Marner will get back up to 1.4 PPG and we will get to 100 points this year but they won't have enough depth scoring to win a championship unless the guy in charge makes several big moves.

Well AM and Marner are being paid as the top 7 players in the league. So they are expected to play like top 7 players in the league. Now JT is also being paid like that but he is far from being a top 7 player in the league.
When it comes to playoffs, guys like McD and Panarin both played like a top 7 player in the league which justifies their salaries but none of our three did.
One of the problems is that both AM and MM play on the same line and quite frankly if you are being paid and expected to be a top 7 in the league, you really don’t need another top 7 player in the league to make you play like a top 7 player in the league. And if you are playing with another top 7 player in the league, that line better be dominating the opposition.
You can blame Dubas for roster construction or Keefe for not knowing how to properly split his three 10mil plus player to be top 7 players in the league by not playing on a line together.
But all that still doesn’t excuse the fact that none of them are playing like a top 7 player in the league at the same time. So either they are not a top 7 player in the league which means they are overpaid or they are not playing at their level.
It has nothing to do with other players if they are not pulling their own weight. If they are dominating like they should and Leafs still losing, then Ofcourse the finger should be point at the depth but currently and in the playoffs, that’s not the case.

It's not Marner's responsibility to think about 2nd order consequences though. Dubas' full time job is to think about how all of these pieces fit together and how to construct the best team. Marner's point totals are what you would have expected. This is on Dubas first and the players 2nd imo. Essentially 95 % of the blame is on management imo.

Don't know about the other folks but this is why I am PISSED at marner especially because he takes ZERO responsibility for his play and how it hurts the team

Game 7 Montreal gives away the puck montrael scores and takes momentum

In montreal series the puck over the glass penalty to avoid a hit. effing bitch ass play

Game 6 OT against Bolts gives away the puck and Point scores on transition (both Holl and Marner sucking ASS)

then against CBJ plays like a moron and then has the audacity to talk after teh series like he didn't do anything wrong "i am not going to do anything different in the offseason"

and again last game against the Ducks sucks ass 2 giveaways and no remorse. No owning up to his play that hurts the team blames everyone else except himself. There are so many other things I can point out.

Enough is Enough already. "Grown Men" take responsibility and don't point fingers. They get going when going gets tough. Don't find excuses or throw hissy fits.

Period!

HE LITERALLY SMIRKED AND SAID OH WELL AFTER THE SECOND GOAL HE GAVE AWAY
