So what happens if Point is traded to Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg ...?
Do they renegotiate?
That’s why virtually all of Tampa was given NTC.

What is wrong with our players? Tampa Bay has signed the best goalie in the League for 8 years at 9,5million and the best forward for eight years at 9,5 million. Are their players just more interested in winning as a team than ours are? None of Tampa's top players are making more than this.
I'd be embarrassed if that was my dad! There have been other sources in the past that have not shown Paul Marner in the best light. I'm sure he wants the best for his son,but shut up already! You're not helping. I mean that whole offer sheet BS has failed,so what's plan B for Ferris?Ummmmmmm. Marners dad went on the air and said he should be considered for captain and should be considered a Centre.
You think he did that for..... not money?
Ferris has discussed other contracts and how Marner was low balled.....
That wasn’t media? Or he thought he was talking to a person who wasn’t a reporter?
I'm worried it's going to go that way, but we cant be sure. I think it's at a stalemate and marner's camp wants to see what happens when the pressure ramps up. For all we know, Marner wants to be there for the start of camp.Kinda disappointing to me that Mitch is letting his agent and probably his dad, take him down this path that's going to mean he misses training camp and possibly a few games...and for what? Perceived disrespect? Just awful.
Pretty sure TB is offering front load contracts too.we're giving front loaded contracts with signing bonuses so Tavares made 16 million last last season and this upcoming season and Matthews will be the same the next 2 seasons. After the 1st 2 years it starts to get lower to keep the AAV down. So we got our own loophole we can use with our wallets while they have their tax loophole. Tavares and Matthews will be making more than McDavid in total salary but again that's just the 1st 2 seasons of the contract. Also, this way our contracts are really easy to move after we pay that signing bonus because their base salary is pocket change, even for budget teams.
This is false. There had been negotiations for the entire previous offseason. And it's not like everybody forgot that there was going to be a contract during the season. The comments made were an attempt to influence the upcoming negotiations.Negotiations didn't begin until after the season ended.

Winning or just living in a great area?
Vasi sure did give TB a discount, right? And Point is jumping out of his shoes to re-sign there at a discount too.
Tampa and its environment is a major bonus for the lightning where Toronto and the surrounding environment is a hinderance.
Less stress in Florida. Both are great places that have their own pros and cons. There is no perfect spot.

Less stress in Florida.
Better weather.
Collect a pay cheque with much less scrutiny.
Lower taxes.
I know where I'd rather play.
Advertising money possibilities.
Celebrity Status.
Toronto is a world class city (Players in all leagues love going to Toronto).
Hometown of many players.
You can argue it both ways, which is exactly what the post said.
Trade this little f***, and his entourage, to the highest bidder.Kinda disappointing to me that Mitch is letting his agent and probably his dad, take him down this path that's going to mean he misses training camp and possibly a few games...and for what? Perceived disrespect? Just awful.

It's Canada and the mecca of hockey. You’ve given no positives

Still July here.Trade this little ****, and his entourage, to the highest bidder.
Enough is enough already. The crest on the front of the jesey is far more important than the name on the back. I'd rather my Leafs not win a cup ever again than to be held hostage by Matthews, Nylander, and now Marner. We need TEAM players, not selfish ME, ME, ME players!
It's Canada and the mecca of hockey.
It's may not be for everyone but most kids growing up playing the sport and watching HNIC every Saturday would love to play in this market.
Yep, players get that extra jump when visiting Toronto or Montreal. They seem to love playing road games there.
