So if it's 12M, you can probably get close to 10M.

In order to do that legally, the 3 year contract AAV would be at least 10.75M AAV.

That contract is as good, if not better than the Matthews deal.

It means if Marner is going to be a leaf next year he will be getting significantly overpaid. I think this may end up at 11 x 5 which is an absolute ****ing joke and honestly a borderline fireable offense for Dubas as it buys 1 UFA year.

Based on the way the Marner family has negotiated and the way they are trying to set up future earnings on a short term deal, I think we are quickly approaching the point where we have to embrace moving on from Mitch Marner soon. They simply negotiate dirty and feel they are at a McDavid level. The Leafs can’t share in that delusion.

The problem is he just cratered his value. There isn't a GM in this league that wants to give up assets for Marner and pay him $11 million per year. He would have signed an offer sheet already.

Oh by all means if you can get that, do it.

The reality is Mitch has a high regular season point total which is pegged to a higher dollar value but the reality is he plays a flashy wing game that gets suffocated in big boy situations. Could see McAvoy or Werenski actually rounding out the team better long term on impact and AAV dollar.

No trade is going to occur. He either signs with us, gets OS'd or sits. It really is Mitch's choice. The Leafs care but will start season with Bracco if required. And it really won't change much. Next season he may feel differently.

Dubas should not be offering 11 million at this point. That’s more money than any winger has ever earned off their ELC. I’m fine with it if Rantanen and Point also get that much but there’s no reason for the leafs to be the only team paying their players that kind of money. I’m fine with NHL players making more money, closer to the NBA and NFL as long as the Leafs aren’t the only team doing it.

A Marner for Rantanen trade is interesting, but nothing has come out on Rantatnen's asks (like, it seems they have had 0 talks).

It was reported that PHI are expected to have deals done with Provorov & Konecny this week.
