Don’t you find being constantly negative, just a little bit exhausting?
..... Matthews, Oreilly, Reilly have been excellent, Nylander at 7 million has been good to great. That's not negativity. If posters want to constantly tell me I'm wrong, non stop, then I'm more than willing to engage in a conversation about it. I'm not the only one in this thread who doesn't think Marner has lived up to expectations of his contract in the playoffs. It's a leafs message board...not a marner fan club board. Posters tried to create a Marner talk alternative to this "appreciation" one and it was merged by Mods. You're welcome to create a marner fan board and invite a few of the members here and you all can make your rules.

You’re fixated on Marner’s money too much… it’s out of your control, let it go.

Not every player is going to outperform their contract like the old Mack and Pasta contracts.

Why not appreciate Mitch for what he is as a hockey player… one of the best in the World.

This most recent Tampa series.
Among the very best in the league but go 1/.9% of MVP votes by this board? 6 total votes. He wasn't one of the three stars in any of the games (that I saw) and produced no points in game 6.l.

When you see the level of dominance McDavid has, the level Tkachuk has, Matthews....thats what you expect from Marner at 11 million. But in 4 playoffs he's yet to "ever" look like a dominant player. Plays he picks up points are generally him being an accessory to larger plays by his teammates. He never looks like a dominant force on offense. He struggled to get shots off closer than 50' and he isn't able to create his own space that leads to goals for his linemates. .

Great effort on defense no question ..... But at 11 million he should be a dominant force on offense. Knies looks more dangerous than he does... I'n game 4, Keefe had to put Nylander on the ice so he could create two goals for Matthews. A coach should not have to put another 7 million dollar player on two 11 million dollar players line to get offense. Note that Keefe indicated after game 3 or maybe 4 that Marner and Matthew s had been great in controlling the play, but added that they weren't creating results on the scoreboard.

He seems to fall back into his bad habits during a playoff series. Game 6 and now game 1 were examples of that. A lot of overthinking and odd decision-making.

Well your first mistake was trying to evaluate players based on HFboards polls.

Series-leading 11 points in 6 games. Most 5v5 points. Most PP points. Points in 5 out of 6 games, and was still on the ice for every goal in the game he didn't get any.
Series-leading 63.95 xGF% at 5v5, while facing top-tier matchups. Series-leading 88.89 GF% at 5v5, outscoring his opposition 8-1 (+3 GF with the goalie pulled).
Elite offense. Elite defense. Elite penalty killing, with Toronto killing 12 of 13 after game 1.

All of Marner, Matthews, and Rielly were among the league MVPs of the first round. Our core stepped up massively, and Matthews/Rielly, with more flashy contributions, probably cannibalized a lot of that vote. That doesn't change the fact that he was spectacular.
Great effort on defense no question ..... But at 11 million he should be a dominant force on offense.
He is a dominant force on offense, and it absolutely shows. The issue here seems to be that you refuse to appreciate anything other than a particular style of play, and seem to have no recognition of playmaking impacts.

When people talk about him disappearing, there is nothing further than the truth. He has off games for sure but the load he carries would break anyone. If he got hurt and truly disappeared, this team has zero chance.

Same old same old

Actually, Hasn’t been terrible, but hasn’t done anything tangible either. 5v5 he and his line haven’t finished shit

I'm really surprising how Marner has struggled in this series to command the offense. When he gets time and space he can't make the play happen, and he's struggling to make a play in tight spaces when pressured.

Really disappointing.

But it also feels like if he ever goes to another team he wins a f***ing Conne Smythe lighting it up

OK genius. Where did he drop it? You are constantly a hater. He had a point, 6 shots on net, 75.8% xgf%, 2 hits.
Where?
I know you love willy so put up or shut up.

He's sucked in all 10 close out games he had the chance to make a difference in. He's sucked in both of his first round two games. I think he is pretty deserving of a non playoff performer title. Who cares about a bunch of rd1 pp points and g2 that he padded.

The guys just firing pp shots in or some weak bs. He is part of the 3 man "elite core" and he just tries to dance on the ice and make dangerous passes. Whatever, can do without that in rd2

It's not looking good for Mitch. I think he should skip the fortnite and grow a set.

This is why I hate analytics.
I prefer to watch the game with my own eyes. Yes, Marner did have a few shots, but most of the time he's dancing around the outside. Florida is giving him the outside and he's not doing anything with it. For much Toronto controlled play at times, I expected better of him. The cross ice pass isn't always there, and when it's not, he seems completely ineffective

I think the biggest problem is that you don't have a clue what you are looking at.
The goats were Gio and Lily.
Teams numbers were awesome but guys like YOU want to lay everything at the feet of a player you hate. Time and time again, you slam this kid. Both you and @saffronleaf are known Willy romantics who just cant stand that the object of your obsession takes a back seat to Marner. You take every opportunity to slam the kid.
It is so cringe worthy.

if you believe Willy played well (in total i believe he did), then spit out what he accomplished.on the ice this game that was so much better than Marner. Lets see the deep contrast.
bottom line...team suffered from a couple of defensive mistakes and a hot goalie. Your lurk-trolling doesn't change that.
