Congrats to Marner!!! Well deserved
Nice!
Congrats to Marner!!! Well deserved
*The best until Mcdavid comes homeThe numbers Marner is going to put up during his Leafs career… will likely land him as #1 Best Maple Leaf ever.
If he can win a Championship or two… who knows where he will rank among the Greats.
Marner had a bad night, probably his worst game of the playoffs. Not gonna give him a hard time about it though, it was just one game and he was so good against TB. Hopefully he's a lot better in game 2.
That's interesting! I hadn't thought about it like that but now that I've read your post, that makes a lot of sense. Maybe he was so confused by all that open ice that he just couldn't make the adjustment.Funny that Marner is one of the top scoring players in the playoffs, but he's been so quiet about it. He didn't get the space to operating in the Tampa series but made a lot of good plays in tight and was strong defensively.
Tonight it looked like he couldn't handle the pressure he was getting or make any plays. Could be a mental mindset.
Hope it wakes him up for game 2. Tonight's game showed me that there is open space and speed to be had in this series where Marner should take over. It's his time to shine offensively.

OK Mitch, looking forward to you taking over the next game.![]()

Him and Nylander were both confused this game.![]()
Interesting how you conveniently left out the other 5 games, where he had 11 points.Elimination game vs Tampa 0 points, game 1 of second round 0 points.
Ah,, we're back to evaluating playmakers by shots relative to our top goal scorers in particularly chosen games again. This game, Nylander 7 shots, Matthews 6, Tavares 5, Marner 1.
That's wrong, of course.Watch his plays where he got points last series and 95% were created by his linemates.
Someone already broke this news ITT last night, wake up and smell the coffee. I said last night I'm not going to complain as he played so well in the 1st round but if people start bragging about him and using phrases like "super elite" after he just played his worst game of these playoffs, I might change my mind. Marner's a great player and regular season awards are nice but we're trying to win a playoff series right now and we sure could have used his help last night. I suggest you take a break from pumping his tires, hopefully we'll have reason to praise him after the next game.
If you think Marner was good in the 1st round against TBay than I really don't know what to tell you.Interesting how you conveniently left out the other 5 games, where he had 11 points.

You should be telling me you agree, because he was undeniably good in the 1st round against Tampa. If you think Marner was good in the 1st round against TBay than I really don't know what to tell you.

He was good, but not great to his standards, which speaks volumes on how good he is yet ppl on this forum treat him like he's drouinYou should be telling me you agree, because he was undeniably good in the 1st round against Tampa.

Well, maybe not stand out, but Nylander looked dangerous trying to create offence many times last night whereas Marner was by comparison, invisible. It's game 1, I don't think you can say anyone looked like a stand out.
He's kinda reverted to that pass-first player though the last few games.
Go on, I'm listening. If you think Marner was good in the 1st round against TBay than I really don't know what to tell you.
This series against Florida will be a good test for Marner particularly if it keeps up being as physical as it was in game #1.It's game 1, I don't think you can say anyone looked like a stand out.
