This guys burned me too many years in a row for me to trust him any more. Even with a solid series last season, it still wasn't superstar level.

Need Draisaitls 21/22 game log from Marner minimum if we have any shot at a cup. There's really no reason why players like Drai can do that but Marner can't. When I see it with my own eyes I will go back to being a homer for this guy

Marner isn't going to Gary Roberts his way through a series. His Gary Roberts cup winning impact has to come through superstar level points. I don't want to spend another summer commending his PK and defensive skills after another series loss. This team isn't built to win if Marner isn't pacing 90-100 points.
Yeah...you used to trust him:laugh:
You've been a hater from the moment u showed yourself here.

And those are all great things to have but if we can't put a team together (that can win) based on the asking prices of these players, what does it matter? I want to win not have a treadmill team that checks in entertains, hits the first round and exits.

Mitch is the guy that makes the most sense to net a big return. If JT would waive that would be even better.
Come July, it will also be Marner and Matthews that need to waive. Then let's see u put up the only one that makes sense for your big trade...Willy

So you actually don't know ow what a superstar is. Got it

Do you know what a superstar is?

Marner has just 7 goals and 33 points in 39 career playoff games.

If the playoff were 82 games, Marner would be pacing 14 goals and 69 points...while playing with 11 million dollar centers.

B.Point by comparison has 38 goals and 78 points in 76 career playoff games.
Marner would have 14 goals and 66 points in 78

Kucherov has 154 points in 136 games
Marner would have 115 in this span

Mackinnon has 41 goals and 93 points in 70
Marner would have 12 goals and 59 points over this span

This just in: Sundin, Panarin, Savard, Zetterberg, Toews, Mahovalich, Marchand, Matthews, Kaprizov, Martin St Louis, Iglinla, Ron Francis, Tavares, Kopitar, Barkov, Alfredsson, Robitaille, Vaive, Stamkos, Bergeron, Andreychuk, the Sedins, Dave Keon, Shanahan, Thornton, Selanne, Datsyuk, Wendel Clark... and pretty much everybody else in NHL history outside of a few dozens names you'd recognize and a few dozen you wouldn't... None of them superstars apparently... Hmm...

That's fine. We will have a treadmill team that can't get over the hump. We can't afford The Athletic (lol) prices. What was it. 10.8m for William, 12.8m for Marner and 16m for Matthews? At those prices it's over, not winning ever, we don't even have a real contenders tender.

We'll just be here loving a loser team. That's about it.

Is Tage Thompson still >>> Marner???
Who said that? Like seriously, I don’t even think Sabres fans would say that. Maybe for a week or two when Tage was literally the best player in the league during that stretch earlier in the season.

That header from Marner last night was awesome, a great example of just how creative he is. Hopefully he's capable of taking it up a notch for the playoffs but TB isn't going to be pushovers so it's not gonna be easy, we'll see.

For the rest of the season...
1.22 PPG moves him to 9th in all time Leafs career points
1.556 PPG moves him to 8th in all time Leafs career points

Thompson @ 1.4m has the best $/point value in the NHL. $15k/point. Marner $115k/point. At 1.4m it is a no brainer. At 7.15m, if he puts up 90 points, yup.

Would I trade Marner for Thompson? I'd be afraid, very afraid to unless I knew Thompson was not a one hit wonder. Imagine two 50 goal scorers on the PP with Nylander setting them up.

Yeah, if Thompson has arrived, which is likely different than if Marchment has arrived.

marner I think can set up anyone, and has been doing that for years now.

The man is so underrated its crazy.
How so?

I'd say he's a top 10 forward in the NHL, just as another poster did a few minutes ago. He's also on the top tier of wingers, hard to put the top 5 or so wingers in order but he's right up there. I haven't seen anyone who thinks he's less than that so to me, he's not underrated by anyone.

If anything, Marner is overrated by some people. I'm referring to those who claim he's the best winger in the NHL and start yelling at anyone who dares not to agree.

For the record, Thompson is below point per game since Christmas. Which is what we usually see from players equated to Marner based on small sample hot streaks.

Wait so you’re saying Aho and Barzal aren’t better than Mitch?
Just from memory alone in no order...

Kucherov
Robertson
Matthews
Tavares
Kane
Hyman
Eichel

You should be afraid. To trade the best winger in the league would be madness.

I haven't seen anyone claim he's the best winger and yell at anyone who disagrees, but ok I'll take your word for it.

I'm referring more to non Leafs fans - I think those of us that get to watch him every game understand how valuable he is. Someone referred to him as Gilmour without the bite and I think that's pretty accurate.
