I'm honestly just shocked Bomber said something positive about the Leafs. I feel like someone should take a screenshot before he deletes his post.

I'm so accustomed to seeing him come into threads and with the positivity of an Irish heroin addict.

I didn't say something positive about the Leafs, I said something glowing about one of their players...

There's a difference.

Marner is one of the few talents in the game where he comes up with something on a game to game basis, I haven't seen before, and that includes offensive and defensive moves.

That's the kind of talent I'm happy to give kudos and appreciation to.

Marner is the best player on the Leafs this year, It's not close.

If there wasn't a raging bias towards centers, he should be in Selke conversation.
+1

His creativity is off the charts which is part of what makes him so much fun to watch.

100% I hate how the league just disregards it's elite wingers.

Hossa, Stone and even Marchand (Yuck) Should all also be or have been in the Selke conversation. He reminds me of Marian Hossa the way he defends with his stick and positioning, and gets similar treatment when it comes to Selke voting.

In my honest opinion, Hossa should have multiple Selkes but wingers get shafted by the voters.

He is without a doubt a top 3 winger in the league. Absolutely elite offensively, great skater, great playmaking, has a good shot and just phenomenal defensively and on the PK. You can deploy him in any situation and he's dominant.

Sometimes I wonder why Marner doesn't put up more offence. His hockey vision is second to nobody playing today, same goes for his passing ability, now he's added a great shot to his game, he plays on the #1PP, he's not only had great linemates to play with but there's also always pretty much been two top lines so the opponents can't focus just on him so ... how is it that he doesn't put up more offence?

Marner in the scoring race last 5 years including this one:
18-19 - 11th
18-20 - 18th (tied)
20-21 - 4th
21-22 - 10th
22-23 - 12th

Before anyone jumps on me, I don't care much about how many points he gets, I just want him to play his best hockey for us in the playoffs. So this isn't in any way a criticism of Marner, more of a curiosity. Does he just play that much better defence than all the guys ahead of him or what?

You mean like with O'Rielly and Tavares 5 point night?

Matthews isn't giving any of his wingers any freebies this year, with regards to even strength assists.
Mitch doesn’t need freebies, he hands them out.
Matthews will be the lucky recipient tonight
