Last season he finished 10th in points with 97 in 72 games played. So, it would be great to see him finish in the top 10 once again.

Starting to feel like a 100+ point career high for Marner.
I would not be shocked if that happened and if it wasn't for him missing 10 games last season, he would have had at least 100+ points.

The post you quoted has stats, Marner has 29 points and 12 are on the pp. 29-12 = 17. You have him at 21, something is wrong.

Matthews has 28 points and 7 powerplay points = 21 even strength.you have Matthews at 16.
You're right - I had them backwards. Marner 16 ES points (and 1 PK), and Matthews 21. Thanks.

That makes it even more obvious that Matthews and Nylander are the 'Dynamic Duo' at the moment, and that JT is limiting Marner.

If Tavares is limiting Marner how many if his points during his 23 game point streak happened at 5v5 with him, compared to on the power play when Matthews was with him?

Or it could just be the fact that JT’s line is often matched up against tougher competition and tougher usage.
Or the fact that JT is just doing JT thing bc I don’t think his stats are bad.

I agree because I don't think Tavares stats are bad, because he's currently playing at a PPG with 45 points in 45 games, which I'm sure playing with Marner at 5v5 is a reason for that.

I'm not sure why the #2 line would get the harder matchups, especially considering how well Matthews and Nylander are doing.

I wouldn't say JT's stats are bad, but I do see that almost half his points come on the PP, which is appreciably higher than any of the other three.

At 5v5 with Marner the stats for Tavares is 12 goals, and 12 assists.

On the power play he's got 8 goals and 13 assists.

Really? All 24 of his ES points came while playing with Marner? So he had no points at all in the 17 games with Nylander?

In a way JT is streaky, if he gets that extra jump, he will dominate like no other in the league. But those extra jumps in games happen less often than we want.
His so called B game is pretty solid which help him with his stats and Leafs winning games.

Overall I am not disappointed in JT minus an off game here and there.

I think it is the fact that the other three are doing great that is over shadowing JT’s contribution.

JT and Marner need a suitable winger, Jarnkrok is serviceable but he doesn’t dig pucks, like say a Bunting, and that’s what is needed. He’s a liability in the top six, we need an upgrade for the playoffs.

That I agree with.

I like that Calle is around the net a lot but he doesn’t dig pucks like Bunting.

Might even try him at 3C after they trade for a winger. But as of now, Calle is the best option for that line bc Kerfoot can’t cut it there.

Beauty of a precision shot by Mitch .. I had a perfect view of it .. Mitch had hardly any room .. he threaded da needle baby .. what skill .. and nice defensive hustle to earn puck too .. well played Mitch
I once was at a game, had a direct line behind Kessel on a goal and it was incredible to see it from that angle, literally has zero room for error and the puck just threaded the needle as you say.

As an aside, there’s no question Marner’s shot is improved.
