Today I think that honor would go to Carter Savoie although I don't think he would crack the 1st round. Really looking forward to seeing team Finland in the U20s. The Leafs are due for a real win outside of the 1st round.
Honestly there are a handful of players that may fit into this category coming up. Knies and Niemela are players that have already likely played their way into a 1st round caliber player and Tverberg could legit have one of the highest rises from that 2020 class. I am pretty confident he was the 5th last pick in the draft. If he continues what he is doing until years end, he will certainly start grabbing more attention.

Probably right. Especially because Niemela should have been a 1st round pick at the time and was slept on by 31 teams. Savoie was almost a non-prospect because of his skating and the league he played in.

I know again it’s far away and anything could happen but does anyone think this year with it being a very deep draft, Dubas could trade back a bit and get 2 picks for either the first round pick or the 2nd round one?

Dubas looks to trade back whenever possible early in the draft.

I believe it was in one of Leaf videos on youtube/social media, where Dubas asks the draft table whether they should take the deal, or make the pick, and made the pick because the scouts felt Knies was too good of a player to pass on (which early indications appear to be that is correct)

Not to mention the previous times it happens.

Dubas seems to recognize that the difference between a late first, and an early/mid 2nd is minimal, and takes advantage of it.

Logic we used to get taken to the cleaners with *stares at Brian Burke*

My guess is around 15-25, he might be the biggest riser in the entire draft class.

I would argue Tverberg could be one of the biggest risers in a 2020 re-draft, he did go 213th and is out producing every player selected in rounds 1, 2 & 3 that is in the NCAA... Well he's tied in points with Jake Sanderson but you get the idea.

He was good in preseason and had a shootout performance that had me asking
WHO IS THIS GUY???

You often here management will keep giving chances to the guys they drafted. Woll was a 3rd round pick. Is this what is happening?

It looks to me that the better goalie at this moment is Kallgren with his .923. Coming off a .930 playoff with Vaxjo.
This is Kallgren's first experience with NA hockey. I'm sure they're happy with what he's done so far and want him to continue to get acclimatized with NA.

I would imagine if Scott was healthy, he would have been in over Woll. No harm in giving Woll a shot to see what he is. My thoughts are maybe at the next back-to-back they give Kallgren a shot.

You wouldn't happen to have a link to that vid? Haven't seen that one. Love the behind the scenes stuff on draft day.

Kallgren played 5 games, 3 in the ECHL 2 in the AHL 2 years ago in Arizonas system.

Based solely on stat watching, I wish we had signed Theo Rochette, James Hardie and/or Jacob Guevin to the ELC out of development camp rather than Kressler.

Theo rochette and james hardie are both d+2. It’s much easier to score as a d+2. We should have skilled players better than hardie and rochette. Kressler was signed because of his defensive play and pk ability.

Ho-Sang scores again, his 8th.

Hoefenmayer playing a lot more physical this season. Noticed it in the prospect tourney as well. Lit a guy up pinching at the blueline.

Not really concerned with Hardie and Guevin. They are not really doing anything that is exceptional for the types of players they are.

I like Rochette, but the Leafs cut him right away so there is obviously something they did not like about him.

I am not concerned about Kressler. He is doing fine, and the scoring will come. Flint is the worst scoring team in the league right now.

SDA is now on a 3 game goal streak. He also has 6 assists this season. The red flags are still there based on his player type, but he's had a good start this year. It would be some kind of development win if they turned him into an NHL player.
Abramov also looks to have got going after a slow start. 5 points in 12 games is ptetty solid considering he was on the 4th line to start, and has had little PP time. Moore has trusted him on the PK.
