That does not look good

This actually looks very good. He's walking, it's a known shoulder injury
Considering he went head first, things could have been way worse

Gary Roberts came back from a neck injury, very few players ever do
That's when you say, that does not look good

He's a kid, he'll be fine. Enough time to recover and rebuild that shoulder.

Its the collarbone no? Much better than a joint injury. Head first is scary yes. The first thing I thought of when he went down was a concussion so this is much better for him to deal with.

Loponen through 4 pre season games has 1 assist and a CF% of 61.1. All though he is playing very sheltered minutes.

Liiga this year? What is his game like? Know virtually nothing outside of he was very good in a league he should have been very good in.

He better be a mainstay in Liiga this season or he's pretty close to a write off. The issue with last season is it was his D+2 playing in a league guys in their D-2 play in. Even if you're very good in it, you're not a real prospect as it's like basically BCHL level. You have to be flat out dominant, and reports don't say he was. Not to mention he was one of the oldest players in the league on one of the best teams, while playing with two 2nd round (maybe 1st if you squint) talents in Koivunen & Tuomaala.

Good skater, good in transitions, good shot. Defense is main weakness. He was a long-shot at the time, probably a bit more of one now without a strong Liiga season.

In the Amirov thread one of the Russian posters confirmed it was collarbone. He said 4 weeks, but that doesn't seem right.

Hate that it happened in general, but this is such an important development season for him and it looked like he was actually going to be given top-6 and top-PP in the 2nd best league in the world. Things like that never happen for kids in the KHL.

I think a lot of people are sleeping on the potential of Jeremy McKenna. I know he's only on an AHL contract but he's a hard worker with a wicked shot. In his short sample with the Marlies, he worked his way up the lineup and was playing top-line minutes at the end of last season.

Take a look at his goals from last season

Hi everyone,
Tough news on Amirov. I’ve been following the Prospects Thread on him and honestly was relieved to see it wasn’t a more severe injury. Hopefully he recovers as quickly as they’re suggesting & is back to normal soon. I really like his game & think that once he fills out he will be a force.

Cheers,

Are there any good undrafted candidates with some pedigree or upside that we could invite to camp and sign? Could be a good way to put a couple of extra players in the system to make up for the lack of picks in the 2021 draft class.

Rybinski was a 2019 pick and would be a good one.

The Leafs have already invited Hardie, Rochette, and a few pro eligible players like Sevigny and Budgell to camp.

One of the better AHL contracts we had last year, but still far away from earning an ELC. Skating still needs a lot of work, and if that does not improve, we are looking at a Petan-lite at best out of him.

Very true about his skating. It will now come down to his determination to see if he can improve on that. Only time will tell.

I think most people have Amirov behind Liljegren and Robertson, but I think he's probably our top prospect. I can't wait to see what he does with a bigger role

Pretty sure Lilly is better than a couple dmen there.

And I'm assuming Sandin missed the games played cutoff?

I know he's not our prospect but seeing Seth Jarvis that low and seeing quite a few of the names ahead of him makes me question this guys list.

that definitely looks like the work of someone who should not be paid to write about hockey

Wheeler's lists have been quetionable so this isn't surprising. Jarvis should be on that list and Amirov probably too. Liljegren at the worst should be in the HM's. If Sandin is eligible and he isn't there, I can't trust a list like that.

I wouldn't hate if Ho-Sang secured a spot with the Leafs, not sure he would only be an extra with the Marlies.
Engvall should make the big team
The team likes Brooks @ centre, doubt he is moved off @ the Marlie level
I would be shocked if Malgin stayed in NA if he doesn't make the Leafs

I wont pretend to know a great deal about other teams prospects, because my knowledge is pretty Leafs centric. I just cannot see how Amirov or Sandin are not on this list, especially when you see a player like Evan Bouchard in place of Sandin... they have comparable stats, if not Bouchard has worse. Sandin has a WJC Best defensemen to his name and has outproduce Bouchard in their limited NHL time in likely a lesser role than what Evan has been given in EDM. 11 of the top 24 prospects were drafted in what was considered a weaker than usual 2021 draft with massive amounts of unknowns given the limited sample size due to COVID. Byfield is the top prospect??...Given the criteria and what I have seen so far, I just am not sure how Trevor Zegras or Cole Caulfield is ranked behind Byfield. Just not sure how this list makes sense TBH. Obviously these lists are all objective, and really mean nothing at the end of the day but it just looks like a lazy effort to put together a list IMO. That said, I am clearly a Leafs homer, so who am I to throw stones.

To be fair, some scouts do believe than byfield is said to have even more potential than even lafreniere. Evan bouchard has higher offensive potential than sandin albeit with a very suspect defensive game in juniors and time will tell if his defense will be nhl acceptable.

At the end if the day, it’s just another list and all lists are imperfect since development, injuries, organization plays a huge role in how a prospect turns out.
