That pass on the PP was real nice too.

He honestly could have 3 assists today if the goalie didn't make two huge saves on guys in the slot.

The one was a muffin of a shot though... I was rolling my eyes... great pass from Hallander, and you take a shot like that, that hits the goalie in the pads....

Hallander's offensive skills are decent. He just isn't the kind of player to take initiative. Not a bad thing but it will be nice if he was a bit aggressive.

Eh Idk if I would say he's not aggressive/doesn't take initiative. He's such a hard player to explain, I literally couldn't tell you a single guy he reminds me of.

He's just got this weird way to him where he doesn't seem to want the puck on his stick, but if the other team has the puck he doesn't stop skating until his team has it. He's always in position for a pass but the puck just never seems to stay on his stick- he kinda just passes it on all the time.

Yeah it's odd. From what I can tell, his puck handling is fine so not sure why is always passing it or doesn't want it. I don't think it's a confidence thing, but it's strange.

It's why his stylistic comparison to me is so hard to find. He just seems to love passing it every chance he gets, and he's so so good at it. It's not even like I consider him an elite playmaker or anything either. He kinda just has the mentality of "puck can only be on my stick for a second".

I mean it works. It's just it's probably not the best thing if he wants to put up significant amounts of points.

Just a reminder, Miettenen makes his College debut today. Probably not highly anticipated, but highly anticipated in the sense that many felt he should have been taken long before. Had this date in my mind for some time.

Since he's a Dubas pick, I already feel like he'll smash expectations this year lol.

Agreed. I'm not good with comparisons, so not going to even try, but he is such a smart player and responsible in all zones. He's aware of everything on the ice. Has some offense but fits as a complementry piece on a line. It's funny I think he could work on both special teams 2nd units.

I have the College Hockey news app, and it said 6:35. I thought that was eastern, but as you said it'a 8:35 eastern, so 6:35 here.

Ovchinnikov is having a great start and it's fantastic to see but it's probably a bit premature to be comparing his season to Robertson's last year.

Still, great to see and hopefully it continues.

Drafting is so important (I know I don't need to tell you guys that). If some of these 3rd round and beyond picks over the last 2-3 drafts hit, we could be looking at similar success in a few years.

It took Tampa longer than they wanted it to. Same with Washington. Our boys are still so young. Patience.

I don't think producing more against the bottom tier teams is anything new and not something I'd hold against Ovchinnikov unless there's evidence that he uniquely benefits from it. That said, there's a difference between leading the OHL in goals over pretty much a full year and a great 20 games in the MHL
