He's only played this well when playing with Muzzin. Muzzin has made all of Holl, Rielly, Dermott, and even Sandin and Liljegren's numbers better in a small sample size. It's the same as the Slavin-Pesce situation in Carolina.

If we didn't have 2 NHL ready d-men who project to be top 4 players in their own right waiting in the wings I wouldn't even consider it. But with that I would sell high on Holl and look for a 1st+ and do what we should have done with Komarov when he had his massive year.
But Holl has outplayed Muzzin this season by a significant amount. I get what you're saying but you don't trade Holl until Lilly and Sandin are solidified as at least NHL players. This season especially you don't consider it as an option.

Sandin and Liljegren haven't proven they can play at an NHL level yet, let alone a top 4 level and Dermott has stagnated pretty badly

This team is trying to contend for a title, teams going for a title don't trade top 4 RD on a below market contract so you can replace him with question marks
Holl has been our best dman this year. Trading him would be crazy. I could envision selling (reasonably) high on Reilly this off season, despite how many minutes Keefe gives him. He has really seemed fairly ineffectual this year.

Ya its really hard for me to get on board giving up a player like Mo who has played over 500 games in the league just to give our sandin/dermott a spot to play. I love sandin as a prospect, and I truly cannot wait to see him as a regular, but we cannot discount what Mo has done in this league. It would not only move every single LD up a slot in the lineup, which would come with it's own set of challenges. But it more importantly would send shockwaves through the dressing room. From all reports, Mo is a Very popular teammate, and someone who love playing in TO. It would not be my preference to move out a player like him. At the end of the day, best case scenario on a player like Dermott is Mo. May as well move Derms instead

It looks to be a flat cap for 3-4 years. We don't have room to give him any real pay increase, should he demand it.

Defensively, he's a train wreck. From @Stephen_burtch

It's early this year, but he isn't as effective as he has been offensively in the past.

It might just be time to move on, sadly...
I agree, he has not looked sharp this year. He also is playing with a brand new partner. Something he seems to do every year, yet this year he has had to make that adjustment with virtually no training camp. Not to mention he is playing with a left shot RHD. something he has not done since maybe Phaneuf?? (Think they played together at times). Its a minor adjustment, but one I am sure has mad an impact to some degree. All of this while still logging the most minutes of anyone on our team. Reilly will get it together, I am sure of that. But yes, I agree with you completely. I feel like a flat cap might hinder our ability to extend Mo going forward. I just don't know how confident I am in throwing Sandin/Dermott into a role that involves one of them playing 23 minutes a night against the best players in the world. Its a huge step from from being HS to that. I think i'd move on from Freddy this year, and find a reasonably priced tendy to split the cage with Soup. Resign Hyman to an 7 year lower cap deal around 4-4.5 and give nick Robertson a real chance in the top 6 with either Matts or JT. Depending on how he fairs in that 2021-22 season, I'd potentially move on from willy. Might not be a popular opinion on here, I just think Willy has less of an impact on this team than Mo. Willy is an immensely talented player with below average hockey IQ in my mind. He really should be a superstar in this league, just cant figure it out between the ears on a consistent basis. He puts up points, good deal, and still has very good value. I think he would fetch a very strong package coming back. But that would hinge on Mo returning to form at some point this year and next, and Robby making significant strides next year

I just noticed this is the Marlies/Prospects thread... my bad.

It's tough seeing one of our prospects wearing that toilet seat logo on his jersey, even though it's not the same jersey colour as we're used to seeing it on
lol. Plus, they’re really forcing the nickname. ‘Meat man’, etc.
‘Meaty Veeti’ is cleaner and simpler.

Offensively inept Hallander scores again:

If your going to ***** for literally weeks or months on end you should stop the strawmanning

I didn't call him inept, I said I'd like to see better production to go with the excellent advanced stats

Jesus, get over it

All good my man

I would like to see a breakdown on his game and why the production isn't matching his advanced numbers though

Is this like Nylander a couple of years ago, or something else like linemates?
