Wyatt gets it this week. You can't give it to anyone else but the guy who had the hat trick.

If your going to ***** for literally weeks or months on end you should stop the strawmanning

I didn't call him inept, I said I'd like to see better production to go with the excellent advanced stats

Jesus, get over it

Wow!

Is Amirov coming to the Marlies next year?

I am guessing Hirovenen and Niemela are both staying where they are for another year or two. Anyone else coming over?

Add it Abramov and we'll have our own Russian line.

Abramov Amirov SDA The Russian Line <--- I have no idea who actually ends up playing C of these guys
Kossila Hirvonen Miettinen < The Finnish Line
Petan Brooks Brazeau <- Canuck Line

Noting some of these guys won't be on the Marlies next year, but it's fun anyway.

My guess is they have Abramov and SDA rotating between the wing and centering the bottom 6 while guys like Elynuik and Chartier is also there.

Petan - Brooks - ???
??? - ??? - ???
Hallander - SDA - ???
??? - Abramov - ???
RW Green/C/LW McMann/RW McKenna

Kral - ???
Kivihalme - Hollowell
Rubins - Duszak
LD Hoefenmayer/LD McCourt

Woll - Scott

Gaudet, Pooley, Brazeau, Elynuik, Chartier, Conrad, Sapego, Sabourin, and Clune are all AHL UFA's. The first 5 are all good options to fill some of those holes.

Marincin, Warsofsky, Rosen, Kossila, Boyd, and Agostino are all NHL UFA's. I don't see any of them coming back for the Marlies.

This kid will look really good with more talent on his line. The WJC team was poorly coached and overall just not very talented. I am really keen to see him on a line with NHL calibre playmakers.
As much as I want to defend his performance at the WJC since he's a Leafs prospect, he was just outright mediocre at best. His compete level wasn't great and he didn't push the play whatsoever. I understand his game is built more on playing a quiet 2 way game and pouncing on opposing teams' mistakes and whatnot but at the WJC when you're playing on the top line for your country, you have to push the play and try to go through players sometimes. I have compared his game to Nik Ehlers in the past but Ehlers has another gear that he's hit this year. He doesn't just skate around with the puck and make safe plays. He has learned to really force play up the ice and become THE GUY on his line. I hope Amirov has that switch and can become a guy who constantly wants to puck on his stick so he can do something with it.

I think that's pretty accurate. Brazeau I see coming back for sure... they like him as a project, and I think he has some potential too. I guess the question becomes, when do guys like Hirvonen and Kokkonen come over? What about a guy like Holmberg? Do they send a guy like Bouthillier to the ECHL, or just forget about him? The rest I just don't know.

Any chance Korshkov can join the Leafs this season? Would be nice to have him around as L3/4 depth especially going into the playoffs

I think we'll see Kokkonen and Amirov on the Marlies next year, Holmberg maybe

Bouthillier is done with the Leafs. He is playing CIS with Trois-Rivieres, and never really looked all that impressive. The Marlies may sign some guy to be their #3, and maybe he will be young (i.e. Shane Farkas), but I am not too worried about that.

I am not confident that anyone comes over for 2021-2022 (who is not already signed) unless we bring over a guy like Greenway or Rasanen. Maybe Amirov depending on how he wants to play things, but I am not counting on him for at least another year.

2022-2023 I think will be Abruzzese, Kokkonen, Rindell, Villeneuve, and Holmberg (unless Abruzzese wants to finish his degree). I doubt we bring in O'Connell. We will keep tabs on Koster, Miettinen, Hirvonen, Loponen, and Niemela but they seem more like 2023-2024 kind of guys along with some of the guys we draft in 2021.

The rest are the Russians (Kizimov, Akhtyamov, Ovchinnikov) and NCAA guys (Schingoethe, Fusco, Tverberg, Miller) who likely need 4+ years, which means they won't be considered for a while.

Ya I'd have to agree with this assessment. I saw some real flashes of brilliance, but to me there were far too many shifts where he failed to move the needle. Some of which I'd say he almost looked disengaged which was a tad worrisome. I think I was expecting him to have a similar motor to Podkolzin. He just never seemed to find that extra gear like you were saying. He is still so young, and him playing against men in the KHL is massive for his development in my mind. I really think he will become a hell of a player, but I'd be lying if I said I was impressed by his WJC. Really happy to have read that he is getting a bit more ice time. Cant wait to see him on the Marlies/Leafs

I think Amirov ends up like a Tatar. I think he'd be great in our top 6 though in a few years. We really need a C prospect to show 2C potential though if we're not going to try Nylander there I think. JT will be needing to go to LW soon I believe. A guy like SDA/Abruzzeze/Hirvonen/Abramov becoming a true top 6 C option would make things so much better.

Amirov-Matthews-Marner
Tavares-x-Nylander
Robertson-x-x
x-x-x

Rielly-Liljegren
Sandin-Brodie
Muzzin-x

This is sort of how I see our lineup long term right now, with the bolded being prospects. D is likely pretty well set up now, but we need some forwards to be top 6 options. I personally believe one of SDA/Aburzzeze/Abramov can do it.

Our pipeline:

LW:
Robertson
Amirov
-----
Ovchinnikov
Hallander
Holmberg
----
Bobylev
Chebykin

C:
Abruzzeze
Abramov
Hirvonen
SDA

RD:

Niemela

Hollowell
Villeneuve
Rindell

----

Given how well a lot of the prospects are doing this year, it will be great to see in another year or two a stacked Marlies team again. Crazy to think there will be a ton of skill and potential on the team again.
