He will be on the Marlies, it's just a matter of whether the Marlies want to give him such a large role. We will have Kossila and likely one of Boyd or Brooks down the middle as well, but Kossila rarely played last year and wasn't great when he did. Chartier has been injured a lot himself. We get really thin down the middle and we would be taking a major risk with Chartier in the top 6 without any kind of serious insurance policies in place (both if he gets hurt and if he sucks).
honestly I am not even sure that would be necessary to give him heavy minutes. He didn't look to me like a player with top 6 upside at all, but more so a 4th line energy guy. I'd play him in the 3C spot and develop him in that role

I don't think the Marlies should look to add vets up front for this team. It's a weird season to begin with. Let the kids run with it. Give guys like Brazeau/Robertson as much opportunity as possible.

I think the Leafs have done a good job finding mid level AHL players and hope to find gems that can push for depth NHL roles. I think that's the kind of additions they should be going after, not 30+ year old veterans.

You need a lot of depth in a condensed schedule and finding "veterans" can help out the younger players quite a bit.

They're not playing a full schedule and the team already has vets. No need to add more and take away development time from players that have had a lot of time off already.

If you are in the top 6 on the Marlies, you are getting heavy minutes, especially since we won't know how much Kossila will handle as a 2/3 C.

We need more than 13 forwards and 2 goalies though. Even if we are not rotating as often, there will be injuries (just look at the Leafs). We have 10 defensemen right now, and some of them are likely not going to get much playing time themselves, but even they will likely get into some games.

If the Marlies sign LW/RW Gabriel Bourque, RW/LW Beau Bennett, and G Shane Farkas for example, this is the Marlies lineup:

LW Kenny Agostino – C Travis Boyd/Adam Brooks – RW Beau Bennett
LW Nic Petan – C Rourke Chartier – RW Joey Anderson
LW Gabriel Bourque – C Kalle Kossila – RW Justin Brazeau
LW Hudson Elynuik – C Tyler Gaudet – RW Scott Pooley
LW Rich Clune - C Colt Conrad - RW Scott Sabourin

LD Rasmus Sandin/Martin Marincin – RD Timothy Liljegren
LD Calle Rosen – RD Mac Hollowell
LD Teemu Kivihalme – RD Joseph Duszak
LD Kristians Rubins – RD David Warsofsky
LD Riley McCourt/RD Sergei Sapego

G Joseph Woll – G Ian Scott
G Shane Farkas

Both of our main prospect goalies get into a ton of games, and we can try out another young goalie prospect in Shane Farkas as our 3rd stringer.

Riley McCourt and Sergei Sapego likely don't get a ton of minutes on defense unless we trade someone, but all of those guys are on the roster right now.

Adding Bourque and Bennett doesn't take away opportunities from any of our prospects except Conrad, who does not have a ton of upside and is turning 24 years old soon. Both Elynuik and Conrad can play center, so that helps their case as well.

Abaramov pointless in both games. His season is worse than last years so far which is sort of disappointing.

He is producing better than he did last year, so I don't see why it is that big of a deal. Victoriaville also just added a bunch of talented offensive forwards so he is getting fewer touches.

He still finds ways to be very effective.

Now that it looks like Brannstorm is losing favor in Ottawa. It's funny how people said he is better then Lilly, and Lilly is a failure. Maybe Lilly is projecting well after all?

Liljegren hasn't really done anything either, he's done well in the AHL but doesn't really seem close to making any kind of impact with the Leafs, especially with our current log jam on defense.

Posters who say Lilly is a failure don't watch him play in the AHL. I am very confident that Lilly's floor is a top 4 D.
I agree with you. He gets extremely underrated by some people even though he's a top pairing 2 way stud in the AHL at 20.

Sure but the point is people have called him a bust despite all evidence against it. Lilly could play in the NHL right now but the log jam is preventing it as you said.

Veeti Miettinen was nominated this year, and I believe Nick Abruzzese was nominated lasted year. Not too shabby for a 6th and 4th rounder. I think Veeti Miettinen has already achieved more than your average 6th rounder, so its a complete win in my mind. Excited to see him mature

Liljegren needs a nice stint next to Muzzin and people would start talking about him like they are now about Holl. Except he's younger, costs less and has more offensive ability.
This is what I want to see starting next year. Muzzin is the perfect guy for Liljegren to lean on and the comments from guys like Tavares are encouraging.

I don't mind if we have 8-9 guys next year because depth is always a good thing but we have to get the kids in next year.

Agree with you, but it would be nice if Liljegren had a GM who would get him more than zero games played in an 11 month span. That is not how you develop a prospect.

I'm not going into this again. You can believe Dubas is the worst GM for not loaning one prospect, but I'm not going to overreact like that. It's nice Lilly has a coach and GM who believe in him.

If we do Muzzin with Liljegren, I wonder how Dermott would look beside Sandin.

We'd need a really good #7 and #8 as well. #7 could be someone like Bogosian if he wants to come back. #8 should be Kral's RD partner on the top pairing in the AHL and capable first callup to the NHL (I would challenge Kral to be a top pairing guy on day 1 in the AHL). Kral and Hollowell are #9 and #10, with Kivihalme being #11 and Hollowell's partner. Bottom 4 in the AHL can be a mix of Rubins, Duszak, Sapego, McCourt, Hoefenmayer, and any other prospects or vets we decide to add to that mix.

However, we could easily include any of those guys in a trade so that might change by next year.

Marincin, Warsofsky, and Rosen would be let go. They can latch on with other NHL teams I would imagine.
