Alright I watched all three goals against.

First goal against was BS. He had covered the puck for a good 3 seconds, the Sens go right at him with their sticks and the puck comes out, and then they send it to the point where it later gets tipped in for a goal. 100% on the refs for that one, but also a good tip shot.

2nd one he was beat clean at the hash marks. Not the best goal but he was in fairly good position so he just got beat in a hole.

Third one he was screened by 3 of his defenders and I think one of them deflected it. It looked like he was expected it to go blocker and it went to his glove.

Shut the door the rest of the way. 29/32.

Somehow the Marlies put up 45 shots? Maybe deserved a better fate tonight.

Mandolese made some nice saves. He earned that one.

Woll has played a couple of solid games. Pretty much an average Andersen game from a couple of years ago with worse forwards. Lets in a weaker goal once in a while but otherwise makes a number of great saves. He looks a lot more composed and his rebound control is much better, so he is definitely looking better than he did last year.

If he can continue to bring a .910-.915 (he is .909 right now) behind this team, that is solid. This is definitely not a team built to win and it is more of a developmental and evaluation year anyways. Right now, none of those AHL contracts are looking like they are going to be climbing the depth chart.

Him and Anderson are the only ones I really care about right now. SDA will be too. I don't see much in Hollowell anymore and I think we should be moving him as an asset.

Why have we let D'Agostini play 13 games and Woll only play 2?

Woll only played 32 games last year, we should be trying to get this guy as much game time as possible. Sitting on the taxi squad I guess gives you some experience of seeing what things are like at the NHL level, but that does you zero good if you're not developing your skills enough to become an NHL goalie, which largely requires experience in real games IMO.

Woll was on the taxi squad while Soup was injured.

We didn't have anyone else to put on the taxi squad at the time. Scott was injured, Campbell and Andersen rotated being injured, Hutch was already on the team most of the time.

I imagine he will get to stay on the Marlies for the rest of the year once Vehvilainen comes in. Probably a big motivator as to why the Leafs wanted him in the first place.

It's not even poor planning really. Dell was claimed and we had a consistent injury in net (or two) for a decent while.

If the Marlies lose all three to this Sens team, a coaching change should be in order

Our defense looks brutal, especially in the second period. Woll hasn't been great in the second period, but none of the goals were particularly bad either. He is pretty much playing as well as his defense right now, and has made a few solid saves as well.

But yes, this team is not good (both on paper and on the ice) and I don't think Moore has done himself any real favours to this point.

I don't like Moore, but the roster he has to work with is pretty terrible

I agree the roster isn't great especially without Liljegren and Sandin, but the issue is even with a decent roster, Moore couldn't make it work.
The special teams are also a disaster.

I don't think he is getting anything extra out of his guys. There have been some decent flashes out of the AHL guys but none of them have taken advantage of better opportunities to this point. The defense mostly looks on par or bad with the exception of Duszak, who has taken some good strides defensively and has added a bit of an edge. That could allow him to be a Connor Carrick, which is not a top 6 defenseman but still someone you want as depth on a playoff team.

Marlies go 0/18 in two games on the PP against Belleville.

Belleville had the worst PK% in the AHL coming into the weekend.

Moore flat out sucks. Our PP is not great, but 0/18 is unacceptable. Absolutely no structure or anything for the Marlies right now.

I was counting coaching. Moore looks lost at this level

Greg Moore has a lot of great ideas. That is what got him the job in the first place. However just like in his closing interview last year, he discussed how it is harder to implement these new ideas on guys who have been playing a lot longer than the guys he is used to in the USHL.

He would probably be a great assistant or development coach as a guy who can be very creative and try new things. He lacks the ability to coach any kind of structured game though. It was probably fine in the USHL, but it doesn't fly for an AHL HC when you need to develop a structured game for guys to make the NHL.

I do think the Marlies will let him work through things because he hasn't had the greatest rosters to work with and he hasn't had any proper time to prepare guys (he has yet to even have an AHL training camp in charge)... And besides leaving Woll out to dry, he has done a fairly good job in continuing the development for top guys like Liljegren. However, any of our mediocre prospects like Hollowell, Rubins, and the AHL contract guys have all looked really flat and underwhelming even though they show flashes of skill.

They will probably give him a proper season or two before considering moving on from him, or if they have concerns about his HC ability, they may promote him to a developmental role for the Leafs and let one of their assistants or Snowden take over at that point.

Is it true the Marlies coaching role is the most coveted head coaching job outside the NHL? If so, why does Greg Moore occupy it. He isn't Keefe.

I've said this for a while.

He could be leveraged as a trade chip as well, if we don't think he will make the Leafs next year. It could be tight on that right side with Joey Anderson also entering into the conversation and likely getting precedence.

I think he can be another Andreas Johnsson for us, but Malgin is a better skater.
