Amirov must be a scratch or injured because he’s not playing today.

He played just over 2 minutes. Another sign his KHL time is done and will join the Marlies full time.

The Marlies could have Robertson, Amirov, Hallander, Abramov, SDA, Brooks, and Petan on their offense next year and that is before they add anyone new through free agency or re-sign any UFA/AHL contracts. A lot of the higher tier NCAA UFA's are also forwards. We could potentially bridge the gap with all of those missed picks from the Hunter era.

It would make sense to keep him in Russia for another year so we don't have to use up a year of his ELC (whenever that gets done). But his usage in the KHL is frustrating so might as well get him over here ASAP.

Doesn't matter, as even if he signs his ELC and plays with the Marlies next season, his ELC will slide until the following season.

Amirov will be very exciting to have on the Marlies, he could even get games this year I believe

I think in a perfect world it would make sense to leave Amirov over in Russia for one, maybe two more seasons but in that perfect world he's getting top 6 minutes and that isn't the case in the KHL.

Even in that perfect world, if he was getting top 6 minutes in the AHL (and we have the room to give him said minutes), it would be better to have him in the AHL than the KHL. Similar competition, but on the North American ice and closely monitored by our development staff.

Sheldon Keefe would be winning with this roster... just saying.

With that goaltending? With the current leading scorer a 28yo who has never had more than 30 points in 6 AHL seasons? Don't get me wrong, this current guy appears to be in over his head but this team has been a hodgepodge.

I'd give Moore a little more time. That lineup since last season has been decimated and injured for the most part. Hopefully by next season we'll have some graduations to the team like Robertson, SDA, Hallander, Abramov, Kral, Holmberg (maybe?) etc etc... Laurence Gilman needs to also find better producing AHL star talent to give them a little more to work with.

With that said, I would say his leash is getting shorter and shorter. I can't say I'm a fan of the way he's handled or said certain things.

Nick Barden who covers the Marlies said Kivihalme has missed the last 2 games but the reason is not known.
Kivihalme is one of the players Leafs can add as a thrown in on any trade so we'll see.

I could see this honestly. He's 26 in a few months, and I don't really see him factoring in to NHL plans. The hot start for him could lead other teams to believe he is though.

Rosen, Marincin>
Hollowell, Duszak, Rubins, McCourt, and Hoefenmayer are more prospect-aged, and Kral/Kokkonen may finish the season in the AHL.

I'd be fine with moving Duszak, Rubins, Hollowell, and Kivihalme right now if we can improve the Leafs in some way. As far as I am concerned, we can try out other prospects with better upside or get veterans who provide better depth to the Leafs. Those guys are kind of in limbo where they are not great prospects and do nothing for the Leafs.

Not sure I would put Rubins in that group. He may have potential as a #6 D who can play the PK. Like his size and mobility.

He is turning 24 this year and his upside is a #6... Very easy to replace, especially with Kral and Kokkonen coming up soon.
