I don’t get this SRS <-> Marlies rotation. Are they just keeping warm bodies that have played recently on the SRS, and reassigning players that have gone cold to the Marlies? It’s not salary or cap related.

Seems unlikely to me, but it would be fun to see him on an ATO for the rest of the season at the very least.

And I believe he's played a team-low less than 5 minutes of ice-time. Around only 5-6 shifts.

This is not a player who needs a ton of refinement in his game like a Kravtsov. He's very polished already. Always wary of bringing KHL teenagers to the AHL, but i'd imagine his technically sound style of play would translate well.

Finishing the season with the Marlies would be a great cap on a strong D+1 season for him. Not to mention they need the help.

Joshua doesn't feel like he'll return to Ufa for next season.

If we're bringing Amirov over to the AHL to finish out the season, they should look at bringing a Russian UFA over with him for some familiarity. Might be a good idea to have Antropov work even closer with the team as well.

The last thing you want is to bring him over and not surround him with some comfort. The culture shock can be a lot.

You would have SDA, Barabanov, etc.

I think our organization is very Russian-friendly these days. Especially with the likes of SDA, Barabanov and Mikheyev, and now Galchenyuk (I know he's American). Marlies players do often interact a ton with Leafs players since they use the same training facilities and I'm sure some guys are friends off the ice.

I'm 100% on board with signing Amirov to his ELC these next few days and bring him over and give him a ton of playing time with the Marlies. He can also get callups to the Leafs to sit on the taxi squad, earn some NHL practice time with the big boys.

I know this kid is going to be absolutely special because most Leafs fans I see on the mainboards are tossing his name around in every trade proposal these days. And historically speaking, Leafs fans wouldn't know a good prospect if it slapped them in the face.

Ideally Denis Alexeyev. One of the top producing young KHL players over the past 3 seasons. Rep'd Russia internationally on teams with Kaprizov and Guryanov. Spent some time this season on a line with Korshkov at some points but his ice-time was all over the place (mostly 3rd line usage). His age-adjusted production is very impressive and surpasses a lot of previously successful players making the NHL transition (older figure below):

The kicker is that he can sign a 2 year ELC and still expire as an RFA. He'll have significant interest from NHL teams. More of a move for next season.

Seems likely to me, but it's possible they let him start his off-season early? Who knows.

Marlies/Leafs have a lot of hockey left. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have him around the org early and be able to play a lot of minutes.
I’d have him on the plane ASAP. End of the week at the latest. He’ll have to quarantine for a couple weeks anyway so he can use that time to rest and recover.

Although tbh this is just for his development. I doubt he’ll make any significant impact in the AHL at this time.

I’d like to see Pontus Holmberg come over to the Marlies. Any word on if or when he’ll be doing that?

Likely not until after next year. His prospect rights and SHL contract expire after 2021-2022 so we will likely give him another year of development time in the SHL before bringing him over to the Marlies. He could still work on turning his possession numbers into consistent production.

I imagine Kokkonen is also going to stay over one more year and pair up with Rindell once again. Then both will come over at the same time. Hirvonen may stay in the Liiga another year as well. It could be a mass influx of Leafs' prospects in 2021-2022 though.

Man that is some accuracy.
Abramov hasn't been himself since returning from the World Juniors, but has 2 points today so hopefully that gets him going. The two Covid breaks probably don't help him get in a rthythm.

So much for Sandin being out the rest of the year... That reduces our need for a defenseman a fair bit. Sandin, Liljegren, Marincin, and Rosen is solid NHL depth. Maybe we look at adding another cheap RD like Hakanpaa to the mix just so we have two natural RD, but I would be comfortable with those guys being our primary depth going into the playoffs.

I will say, I had a bad feeling Scott was done as a pro. Seemed like his hamstring/hip were just done. Nice to see him on the ice. I hope he can play a game for the Marlies before the end of the season.
