That was a sweet pass. I REALLY hope Dubas doesn't move Knies at the deadline.
This could age badly but I don't think Dubas will.

I think Knies will get a shot to play at the end of the year.

If they're trading for a D... Knies won't be included.. they have other prospects they can give up if needs be.

Plus Dubas likes his own guys over unknown draft picks it seems.

Well, I guess that's a.....

Knies pass

Is Koster any good? Honestly forgot this guy was even in the system. He was quite small when drafted, 5'9 170 lbs, looks like he's grown a bit to 5'10 180 lbs

I've always liked him. He's quitely developed very well while in college. Has looked better with each passing year. I think he's got a legit chance at becoming a bottom pairing D man. He often makes smart plays even if they're not highlight reel stuff

Hell probably be back at college next year (or at least that's what I'm going to guess happens unless the Leafs try and get him with an ELC)

I watched him play a couple of games 1-2 years ago.

He fits the mold of the "toronto maple leaf prospect." He tends to make the right decision and shows good iq. From the eye test, it looks like he's good at transitions as he can make the safe pass out of his zone or skate it out. He has good skating technique, but is not the fastest at turning around, but he looks smooth. He has good offensive tools, but he doesn't use them often. What further complicates this is that UofMinnesota has second rounders in faber and lacombe and a first rounder in ryan johnson so minnesota has had to juggle the minutes. Nevertheless koster does get decent minutes from time to time. IIRC, he does show good positioning as well. When I saw him, he was good at risk management.

He should project well in the ahl. His nhl projection will be grey because dmen of his mold tend to be able to put up points and are usually fast skaters. He is undersized and while he shows great technique, I question his speed and mobility.

Someone posted a chart showing shot generation, breakups, passing and it did not look good. However, they are not adjusted metrics so take it with a grain of a salt and the sample size was questionable. His transition numbers should get better if he joins the marlies.

Promote this kid again.

I think he’s got that it factor to be an effective NHLer

But give him somebody to work with, I think he can do a job if he's playing with somebody who can make an offensive play

Don't give the kid nothing and expect him to carry a line on his own offensively

Agreed.. my thoughts are if they spread Tavares and ROR on their own lines, that McMann would look good with ROR

Even just give him Acciari and Kerfoot. ZAR doesn't serve a purpose to this team anymore. Acciari brings everything he brings and more.

Ultimately that spot should go to Knies, but in the meantime, give these guys (McMann, Anderson, etc.) a chance to work with guys who actually know how to do something offensively. That is the main difference between what happens in the AHL and the NHL for them right now.

Getting some NHL time seems to have done him some good.

Getting demoted didn't discourage him.

He seems to have hands, size, good speed, and a willingness to go to the boards.

Candidate for the Bunting evolution?

He is less than a year younger than Bunting, so it may be a little bit late.

But who knows.

Its everyone but Knies is available but Gms will only want one prospect , very unlikely he goes at td .
We have literally emptied all of our picks for years(its brutal). Knies becomes that extra forward we need i.e 3rd line but how on earth do we upgrade Defense? We have a total scorched earth situation if we lose first round again and to be honest a lot of teams in the East have a better defense. We don't even have anything to give for Schenn. It's a pipedream right now.

Narrator: It's not brutal

There's still picks in other years, and players that can be moved too.
Plus, while depth is nice, and an extra push is nice, if we can't win bc we didn't spend to get Luke Schenn, we don't deserve to win.
This team can compete even without an extra bottom 3 D

The emptiness of that prospect pool, the own rentals, the stupid Foligno trade and all the picks are gone. If we lose first round, it will be beyond brutal and I don't care what you say.

Dubas says… hold my beer and shows how it’s done. Ds27 goes back to day drinking and wondering how he pulled THAT off
