A version of Bracco that cares more about hockey and is less of an (alleged) problematic douche is a pretty great prospect for a 5th rounder, and likely leans toward the boom of boom/bust.
Thats not bad and hope this kid works out

I would drop his skating to 4/5
Shot upgrade to 3/5
Passing and IQ are probably correct
Defence is a little low. I would say 2.5 maybe even 3. He's not a bad defensive player.
Puck handling correct maybe downgrade to 4.
Do you think his skill set will translate well to the NHL?

I have family in Sarnia and attended a Stings game there earlier in the season. I think Voit is equally quick in tight areas as Bracco but appears to have a faster and higher top gear. I am trying to remember if he did that tomahawk ten to two thing but can’t recall. Void’s shot looks quick and accurate but not all that powerful. Maybe that will improve if he fills out. He’s a great passer with excellent on ice vision. I can’t recall Bracco leading the OHL in scoring as Voit has already done for a couple of months.

The main problem Is that Voit really is slightly built. He looks very young (like he could still be playing midget) which can be a sign that a young man hasn’t finished growing. But he may just be small. I’m not saying he will be an NHLer but he has a better chance than many fifth rounders, IMO.

According to Seravelli, Oilers interested in adding a physical element with Kane injured.

Leafs would let Simmonds go for practically anything as to get him active and playing again.
I mean they have had chances to take him for literally nothing and haven't. Doubt there is anything behind it.

Ty Voit just does not want to stop eh? Very impressive season thus far. You knew there were going to be some gems that fell between the cracks in that 2021 draft just due to not being able to play in 2020-21. Ty is looking more and more like one of those players. Credit has to go to our scouting staff for taking advantage of this.

Ty will obviously need to add some size if he wants to be effective in the NHL, but he clearly has a skillset that separates him from his peers at the CHL level. It's incredibly impressive.

Very fun prospect to track. Seems like every time I log into this forum I see 1+2 for Voit lol. Just a primary point machine.

I doubt Simmonds has any interest in going to Edmonton.

massively dissapointing. Was really looking forward to see him compete in this tournament. Reeks of hockey politics unfortunately.

I was listening to spittin chicklets interview on Kyle Connor, and he was snubbed from the tourny after leading the NCAA in scoring in his freshmen year at Michigan. So this is nothing new for the US.

Unfortunate that they rob kids of this opportunity purely based on not taking a certain development path, but it is what it is. As long as Ty continues to do what he is doing I am happy with his development. A little extra motivation also never hurts.

I am sure he and Sasha are absolutely gutted. Have to feel for them both.

They took Boucher.

Boucher has played for them in the U17 and was with the USNTDP.

When Debrincat was eligible for the WJC USA barely wanted anything to do with him. He barely made the team, and then barely played all tournament. I figured Voit wouldnt get an invite based on the way theyve treated USA players playing in the CHL in the past. Canada kinda does a similar thing with NCAA guys unless theyre obvious cant misses.

Ya I mean, USA has done a really good job at developing within the USNTDP, so it is really hard to argue their formula. They've also done relatively well in recent memory with the WJHC in general, nabbing 5 medals in the last 7 tourny's. So again, as much as it is disappointing for us Leafs fans and for Ty and Sasha individually, they do have a bit of a method to their madness.

In the grand scheme of things, this tournament means jack shit for players development. A couple years back Max Comtois and Barrett Hayton looked like world beaters in this tournament and they can barely stay in the NHL on bad teams.

I really just feel bad for the players themselves. It's a tournament that every Canadian kid dreams of playing in. I'd imagine it's the same for most other nations. To be performing the way Ty is, and to not even get an invite is kinda bullshit TBH. Especially when you know you are better then some of the other invitees.

He's in the CHL but technically a part of the NTDP

Pastujov is not the same though? He took the exact same route.

And there are non-NTDP guys on the roster. They went the NCAA route but that seems like very specific hate for a guy who played in the US his entire life before he was 16 but is better than half the guys on the team.
