How the 6'6" Hildeby doing?

I know we dumped Mrazek but how do you guys feel about Fraser Minten vs Owen Beck or Jiri Kulich? Those were 2 guys I had an interest in.
Minten > Beck/Kulich for me at this exact moment in time, but we'll see how the rest of the season plays out. Fwiw here's how Baders cards has them all as of right now:

Player - NHL% - Star%
Minten - 68% - 39%
Beck - 49% - 6%
Kulich - 46% - 10%

Minten is an interesting case for NHLe because his D-1 was very impressive, and D0 was average/underwhelming. His production/play after his D-1 had him in company that should have made him a top-10 pick, and now he's producing at a level that's expected of a mid-1st round player in their D1. Aka: he's back to the form/on track to what made him so special going into his draft year and seems to have [hopefully] put the disappointing D0 behind him.

Thanks for the insight, it's a huge deal for us as centre has been an issue for some time.

After this season concludes, is he 1-2 years off from NHL territory?

John Fusco scores his first for Dartmouth. Ryan O'Connell slots back in for Michigan Tech after missing a couple games.

Sometimes it feels like I'm the only one on here truly following our prospects.
Yes you're the only one in here posting about our prospects. Thanks for updating us on our like 30th~ best prospect.

It depends on a bunch, but id guess 2-4 depending on the continued trajectory. If he continues the improvement he's shown this year its closer to 2, but that's a tall ask. Very few second round picks are Nick Robertson.

I consider him a similar prospect to Knies at the exact same stage in that after a relatively disappointing D0 (compared to a fantastic D-1) he's putting together a much improved D1 (and an equally good D2 in Knies case), but has parts of his game that likely need improvement before playing at the NHL level.

That's a reach but To is better for getting Kampf. Totally improved the pk.
Yes, of course, but why wish for a Freddie the Goat when you can wish for a Bergeron?

Availability and fit

The likelihood of Minten being available at the 59 slot is actually a lot higher than you’d expect given his resume. He is a pure project player, who on the rankings board is ranked as high as 55th and as low as 101st. It’s hard to predict an NHL Draft and how it will play out, there’s always one or two teams who go off the board and everything goes sideways from that point forward. In theory, Minten should be available for the Flames to select, and with the Flames’ history of selecting Blazers’ players, Minten is not a far-fetched option. This is a player who would find himself in the AHL within the next two seasons and could see an NHL debut in the next three, given his determination and abilities to compete, and develop his game. The reward outweighs the risk when it comes to selecting Minten.

“Just the way he positioned himself on the forecheck, his stick was always in the right place,” said Couturier, who has seen his fair share of talented defensive forwards first-hand, playing with Selke winner Steve Kasper on the Los Angeles Kings, along with being the father of 2020 Selke winner Sean Couturier.

“He was on a different level defensively, he knew where the puck was going to go before it got there and his anticipation was probably the best I’ve seen in junior hockey.”

Minten is the best forward that I’ve profiled so far as far as defensive play is concerned. Once again, he can react to passes and shifts in the opposition quickly and will disrupt a lot of offensive opportunities. Minten has an active stick in the defensive zone that can create turnovers, which then result in Kamloops taking over in transition.

We saw this albeit in a small sample size during the Leafs pre-season. He did not look out of place and made a few plays defensively. It’s the offense I’m genuinely worried about because when I watch him I don’t see a creative player. I don’t see exceptional puck handling, playmaking, or shooting ability. A lot of work needs to be done there and I’m not sure I see top 6 potential. I watch him and Radek Faksa comes to mind, and truthfully I thought Faksa had better offensive tools with more upside in that aspect at a similar age. That said, Faksa’s offensive production regressed after being drafted so it’s tough to get a strong read of that comparison.

Ultimately he doesn’t have to ever be an offensive dynamo. But it would be nice to see him being the type of player that consistently makes plays offensively. Whether it’s making a great pass, driving the net and scoring goals in tight, or creating offense for himself/others off-puck with his movement and spacing. If he can be a guy that scores 50+ points while providing excellent defense we have an absolute winner of a 2nd line C.

Comparing him to Bergeron already? Seems like the kiss of death. He is at least 2 years away from being an NHL 3rd liner. Bergeron, well there is only one... Let's be honest.

Some of you may have seen that John Paddock clip where he freaked out on the reporter asking about if Bedard will be traded.

Friedman and Marek discussed it on their recent podcast and mentioned that the Kamloops Blazers would be a potential landing spot (as they have the Mem Cup this year). Could be a huge opportunity for Minten if that were to happen.

Bergeron was such a homerun for a 45th., 2nd. round pick.
And he actually spent a year in the AHL, with Leafs Brad Boyes during the lock-out.
Kiss of death, no! Will he ever be a Bergeron, highly unlikely but I haven't even checked my lottery tickets from last night. I'm going to check!
Someone else is going to check as well, and they might actually have won. Heck, I might have won. If not I'll buy another lottery ticket.

They both play C no? I'm assuming Bedard would get Stankoven and Minten's PP1 minutes.
