I didn’t comment on the pick. It’s a 5th round pick, so always a long shot. But with his current team, he’s over .5 PPG. That’s fairly elite company for a 19 year old in the KHL.

Damn. Really hope Amirov beats his cancer.

A 5th round pick, but your point still stands. Pretty nice to see a U-20 KHL late pick thrive on what is likely the 2nd best league in the world. If he keeps developing, could be a very nice prospect to track.

Call me a homer, but I genuinely don't think there is another organization that puts that much effort into their AHL affiliate. I can almost guarantee that we treat our growlers players better then some AHL franchises. I think it's why we seem to attract a ton of guys to come slug out our program. Aside from the obvious of being able to stay in the same city if you're an AHL/NHL tweener, the fact that these guys probably get treated better then the Arizona Coyotes goes a long way in convincing a player that Toronto is a great place to sign out of College/Europe.

Congrats to Shaw on the C, and well done MLSE for making that big moment as special as it can be for the guy.

Terrific
All about the crest and the legacy of our great franchise and the long storied history .
This is why Shanny and what he brings makes a difference.
So proud of our organization again …
We have finally regained our rightful spot again as one of the 2 greatest franchises in this sport in the world …

Great post. :thumbu:

Minten may not be a wow prospect, but I really think he's a kid that we can develop to become a very good complimentary player to our current core group. Obviously he's still a couple years away, but I could easily see him become an effective bottom 6 player to once our current stars hit the peak of their primes (28-29 years old).

Not to slander Nick Robertson, but I feel like Minten's play style is far more malleable to different roles. It will allow him to stay in the lineup at a younger age more then what we've seen with Nick thus far. Not to suggest Keefe will still be the coach if/when Fraser takes that step to the NHL, but you can tell how much Keefe values intelligence and positioning in those bottom 6 roles. It's why a guy like Pontus Holmberg has been getting regular minutes since mid November while Nick has been in and out of the lineup.

Does joey anderson have a future here? Looking at his stats, he seems to profile similarly to Bunting and he is still 24. What kind of game does he play? A grinder-type?

Unlikely. I think it's a lot more likely he gets traded at some point before the deadline to a rebuilding team or something.

Pretty pathetic. Reminds me of when Canada left Connor Brown off the roster

It's pretty much the same thing. They didn't bother to have an updated scouting roster list, they just went with what they already had in mind. It's bad managing.

But hey, maybe it'll work out for them.

OHL leading scorer Ty Voit is also noticeably absent from the American roster despite being one of the premier playmakers in all of junior hockey. His 39 assists lead the entire CHL. If you were to only count his primary assists, he would still lead the OHL. Although undersized, he is an incredible talent to leave off the team, let alone withhold an invite to camp.
Pretty mind boggling decision.

It is truly great to see. For those of us old enough to have been around for all the Ballard years and such, things like this are such a breath of fresh air. No matter what anyone thinks of some of the moves by Shanahan and Dubas, they have built an incredibly well integrated system of excellence from top to bottom and something you can look at with some pride and it shows with player recruitment.
