Not going to happen until he gets a proper defense again.

Rifai - Miller
Pietroniro - Villeneuve
Hoefenmayer - Rindell

Rifai, Hoefenmayer, and Villeneuve are the only ones who should be in the AHL right now, and they shouldn't really be top 4 guys on a good defense either.
You can only work with what you have, and he isn't maximizing it

For a team with such a depleted defense core the Marlies actually played pretty well yesterday. It didnt show in the score but they dominated most of that game, they just couldnt get anything by that goalie. It wasnt until the third period that they came out flat.

Dumais’ career is going to be interesting to watch. His production has been excellent yet he got selected in the 3rd round. If his skillset translates to the nhl, then he would be a case study on scouting and cognitive bias.

Another thing to watch out for is when toronto trades their picks. Ovchinnikov was traded for puutio and levi while tverberg was traded for tye gallagher who did well last year. Don’t forget dermott/dzerkials/bracco for that philly guy.

There's also others that look pretty good..

Kleven for Niemela and Hirvonen
Bokk for Sandin and SDA

I mean we could have drafted Levi instead of Fusco and Rindell, neither who can be seen as good picks from day 1. Won't include guys like Schingoethe because he was actually a good pick in the 7th. Puutio is not a good prospect right now.

Could have taken Gallagher instead of Peksa.

So the trades have less to do with things than the drafting ability. The value on all of those trades were good. We still need to do better on the picks.

Dubas is a pretty good drafter, but obviously not perfect. Nobody is.

We might wanna look at JJ as free wallet. He's developed incredibly this season and is a top goalie on Liiga.

Juha Jatkola

our G department could use Juha's boost. Combine him with Hildeby and it looks much better. Im startin to lose hope for Woll which I rooted for a long time.

He needs to be drafted.

we cant just give him like ELC?

He is European and a D+3, so no.

A team may draft him late, like Vehvilainen a few years ago, but I don't think he will be highly sought. If you wanted him, you could probably get him with a 6th or a 7th... and I think at best, you are looking at a decent backup out of him like Lankinen. He is not big and while the numbers are nice, it is not exactly rare for D+2 or D+3 Finns to do well in the Liiga, even behind less than solid teams; Vehvilainen and Lehtinen being two more recent examples, with both having a similar frame.

I think it is probably best to just see if he can repeat his performance for a few years and then try to sign him as a Euro UFA if you still like him.

I am pretty sure the rule is just if he is undrafted at 20 then he is free to sign wherever. If he has entered the draft twice and not been selected then he is a free agent. His first draft was 2020 so presumably he has entered the other two. I could be wrong and if you can show the rule I would be happy to learn why but as far as I can tell he is a free agent.

Section 8.4 states that a player is not eligible if they are: “(i) a Player on the Reserve List of a Club, other than as a try-out; (ii) a Player who has been claimed in two prior Entry Drafts; (iii) a Player who previously played in the League and became a Free Agent pursuant to this Agreement; (iv) a Player age 21 or older who: (A) has not been selected in a previous Entry Draft and (B) played hockey for at least one season in North America when he was age 18,19, or 20 and shall be eligible to enter the league as an Unrestricted Free Agent pursuant to Article 10.1(d); and (v) a Player age 22 or older who has not been selected in a previous Entry Draft and shall be eligible to enter the League as an Unrestricted Free Agent Pursuant to Article 10.1(d).”

That is for North Americans. Or Europeans who played in North America.

It would also be 3 times, not twice. Unless they were a late birthday. I think it changes from the September deadline to January once they go undrafted, so a late DY guy is effectively the same as a D+2 the next year if he goes undrafted.

So Europeans are January 02' - September 05' eligible, with an exception for players who played in North America (i.e. Ruben Rafkin is eligible to be signed, and cannot be drafted). NA's are January 03'- September 05' eligible.

With Curtis Douglas out of the system does anyone know anything about 6'8" Keenan Suthers playing with the Growlers?

I mean just on his numbers alone he sucks. He's only played 5 games and is a team-worst -4. He had a lacklustre NCAA career (he was even more lacklustre before that). He is also not very physical considering his size.

There is really nothing to like other than his size, and I was left scratching my head as to why he was given an AHL contract in the first place. If it was due to size, there were plenty of other big guys who were much better than him.

I guess you can coast to a decent hockey career if you are 6'8", even if you suck at hockey.

I thought Kasper Larsen looked better than Suthers in camp, as far as big men went. Larsen I don’t think has much offense at the NHL level, if he ever makes it.
