Alex Steeves is waiver exempt, perhaps time to bring him up for a look-see?

Yeah, yeah, Robertson ... but if the coach won't play him ...
Yeah he's earned a look. Would like to see him in and Engvall sit a game. Steeves could bring some speed and energy to that 3rd line and it's not like Engvall is producing at all anyway with 4 pts in 19 games

I don't know if he's that but it's definitely got a YTV-in-the-1990's aesthetic to it: forced energy ranting to the camera like it's a friend. I would have thought the audience for that crap outgrew it 2 decades ago.
With all due respect, you are WAAAYYY out of touch with modern social media and personalities if you thought "forced energy ranting to the camera like it's a friend" was 2 decades ago

See: YouTube, TikTok, IG Live

Personally, I've never minded Dangle. His story to get where he is is impressive, and his passion and excitement was genuine and innocent. Now he has a brand to uphold and so it's become a bit of a caricature and he sensationalizes to get the story moving, but his passion is at least genuine

I think it is more likely we trade Engvall outright than sit him.

Teams would be interested. His offensive game is getting back on track, he has size and speed, and he is strong in his own end.

He is somewhat of a luxury in our lineup because we don't need more defensive forwards and he is only a 3rd pairing PKer here (could easily be higher on a number of other teams, just like ZAR who is also on that 3rd pairing), but I think the Leafs are waiting for a Robertson or Holmberg to take a firm hold of a full time spot and it hasn't happened yet. If one of those guys can take a full time job, we have the depth to live without Engvall.

Leafs aren't exactly in a rush to trade useful players, and while Engvall, like our entire team, needs to provide more offense, he has been useful in the bottom 6.

I agree with this.

Going against the grain but I think Engvall is a good asset. I like how he clogs up the ice, he can skate. I feel like we rarely get hemmed or transitioned on easily when he's out there.

We need more for Kerfoot, Zar, Jankrok, whoever is 3C and Malgin. That's what it comes down to for me.

for whatever reason, Mac has always seemed to be in the fold with the Leafs big boys. I remember before the COVID shortened season he was staying in a house with Auston, Jumbo, Sandin, Willy etc...

He was the only AHL'er in that bunch, which was odd for a lot of people to see. But he was also routinely seen with Jumbo that season and he was kind of taken under his wing.

Not that these photos say anything about Mac as a player. I think we can all agree he has some deficiencies in his game that would likely prevent him from ever becoming an NHL regular. But what it shows to me is that Mac is a likeable kid. Clearly if you have a guy like Jumbo taking you under his wing, he has respect for him as a person. It's one of those intangibles that has probably gotten Mac from a 12th round nobody in the Soo to his NHL debut tonight. You gotta respect the hustle.

I'll be rooting for him, nd by the looks of it he will have the entire room on his side tonight as well. I got an odd feeling that the boys are going to rally around this tonight and try and play their best game yet to insulate the young d-man in his first game.

I think it depends on the role. ZAR and Malgin, for example, have played very well with Kampf on that 4th line. More often than not, they are dominating possession and generating really good opportunities. It sucks that ZAR hasn't been able to finish some of them, but they do a lot as a shutdown line.

The issue is that the 3rd line is very similar, but not doing as well. They are getting outplayed more often. They are not starting in the defensive zone as often, although still starting there 2/3s of the time. And they are struggling to put up offense when they are supposed to be a 2-way line. I think 2/3 of Kerfoot, Jarnkrok, Holmberg, and Engvall could work together, but they need that 3rd guy who is a true center to put it together. Or at the very least, do your best by having Kerfoot and Jarnkrok split draws and have an Engvall-Kerfoot-Jarnkrok line. Kerfoot is fine as a center other than his faceoff ability, and that combination is one that has actually worked for Jarnkrok.

Yep, I think Engvall-Kerfoot-Jarnkrok will be the line in the long run. I can't handle watching Kerfoot flub prime opportunities in the top 6 anymore.

Yeah, I'm sick of Kerfoot not being able to finish on any of his prime scoring chances. At his cap hit, he should be able to score 33% of the time! He needs to be shipped out for a D-man, that's if another team wants to take a flyer on him and is willing to give us a D-man in return.

Kressler with a goal. PpG is falling off, but top 20 in goals despite playing 75% of the games as most, second highest faceoff percentage in the league for guys that have taken at least 100 draws.
