Petruzzelli was bad.
The team is really not that good but all of the top guys showed up and they got some key contributions from their ECHL guys when they needed it. Chyzowski matched his regular season total in goals and points in 32 fewer games.
He might even be back as the #3.

Petruzzelli has outperformed him by a lot this year, and we will have him and Hildeby next year. It is not like Kallgren was good at the NHL level so I would be more than fine with either Petruzzelli or Hildeby getting called up over Kallgren next year too.
Of course we are used to having 3 full time goalies on the depth chart for the Marlies and looking at the UFA market for veteran goalies, Kallgren may be one of the few who are worth our while. I wouldn't worry as much about waiver exemption because none of those guys would get claimed unless a team was REALLY desperate anyways.
I think he is a Group 6 UFA though and if he is not, there could be some teams willing to give us a conditional 7th for him because he would be a #3 for some rosters.

They had a bye in the first round so that helps
Otherwise, clutch goaltending and depth scoring from guys who have sucked all year in a short series against a team that was not all that great themselves this year?
Rochester is going to be a tough out unless every continues clicking on all cylinders.

He is practicing so it is fairly possible.
That is as much as we will know until it happens though.
Would be interesting to see who sits if he is healthy. Chyzowski was the obvious choice but he did come up big so maybe he gets another chance. Ellis may be sitting but I feel like he should be playing. Maybe Slaggert or Johnstone? We could use some more offensive firepower to match up with Rochester.
Ty Voit's season is also done, but I doubt we use him unless absolutely necessary (same with Hirvonen, Kressler, Tverberg, and Ovchinnikov).

What do we see sliding into spots next year? Holmberg for Kampf? Abruzzese gets a spot?
Robertson is out and would seem to need more time.
Niemela is the diamond here... need another half season in AHL? Not sure if Zohorna would fill a 13th forward spot.

I think if we fail to come back here, it's going to be incredibly speculative as to how sweeping the changes will be. We could see plenty of bodies moved, maybe some of our prospects, some of our current roster... It's hard to even guess what's going to transpire with anyone here.
I think theyll leave a spot for Robertson and McMann to fight for. Holmberg will be first callup
McMann is not an nhl prospect. Purely an Ahl option. He doesn’t have the pace in his game to keep up.
I dont see him as an NHLer, but i think theyll give him a shot and let it play out like Malgin/NR this year
