Bunting out?
Kerfoot out 100%
Kampf out likely
ZAR out
Accari out

Lots of spots open
I would think the team would try to retain Accari. Why not?? He will be cheap. Signed a $1.6 x 3 after going to the Cup final as a much younger player.
Him signing for $1.25 with St Louis seems about right on a 1 year. No need for a toronto tax.

Don't you think the coach and GM would sign Kerfoot back @ $1.5?

It's hard to believe Kerfoot would accept that extent of a pay cut, but admittedly his market as a UFA this off season is hard to predict. Hasn't had great numbers this year.

Bunting out?
Kerfoot out GTFO10000%
Kampf out likely
ZAR not out
Accari not out

Lots of spots open
I'm not sure that we have that many openings next season, and if we do, we are weakened by them.

A case can be made to bring back Bunting and Kampf, depending on their ask.

Acciari and ZAR are showing their value, and neither are expected to break the bank to bring back.

Of the list, I don't think in anyone in our pipeline comes close to replacing Bunting, Acciari, and even Kampf, to a degree.

I am all for playing and developing our talent, but I am not a fan of not re-signing very good, value-priced players to do so.

I suspect the Leafs will try and
1 of ROR or Bunting extended
Kerfoot walks
Kampf extended
ZAR extended
Accari attempt to extend
Schenn -attempt to extend
Holl walks

Knies stays and Holmberg is promoted full time

Kerfoot and Holl will get much bigger offers in free agency. But for the others, I suspect management like what they see and will want to keep most of them together

If he ever scored an important OT goal or something his asking price might go up.

I would take 4 Accari's.
And he was a $1.25 million FA signing.
There must be a lot of Accari's out there, most teams probably have them...I want more!!!

Would it be crazy to say that Knies is already our 6th best forward? Maybe 5th?

1. Marner
2. Matthews
3. Willy
4. ROR
5. Tavares / Knies

He isn't a passaenger like many of the guys not listed, he actually generates chances rather than just finishing other player's good plays.

he isn't in the same tier as Tavares

not sure he is the clear-cut 6th either... how do you compare him with a guy like Acciair who is used very differently.

I think he is our 7th best forward offensively (Bunting is better), and overall, maybe 8th/9th?

I think he is in or above the Kerfoot/ZAR/Kampf/Lafferty tier

He is also playing amazing and I love having him, just think he is not as polished as I'd like yet, but he is a rookie and this is high-pressure hockey, have been very impressed.

Are we talking at this moment, their current level of play, or with a bit of history? Because JT has not been good for 3 of 4 games this series. He's getting crushed out there on every shift, possession wise and physically.

small sample size... but ya.

This isn't taking anything away from Knies, Tavares is a 1C...

Knies has been super impressive by the way, I love what I see from him. I just think he is in the mid-tier of players we have. I think this says more about our depth than anything.

Using 18 minutes for an xG argument does not make sense. It is not a useful stat at that level. What was that lines shot differential and actual goal differential?

I’m actually really impressed with how quickly Knies has stepped in and contributed. I knew he was going to be a good one but I didn’t expect him to really slot into the playoff lineup and contribute right away.

The only thing I can see Knies needing to work on is his physicality which will come with more games, experience and just being comfortable in general.

Great to have this kid for the next two seasons on an ELC. He’ll be a top six forward in no time.

yeah, i had the thought last night that he doesn't seem to be throwing hits like he was in college, but i assume that will come as he gets more comfortable. hopefully that's sooner than later, would love to see him out there crushing people.

I think you need to be pretty careful in over reacting when saying a kid fresh off playing his 6th game total is better then a player who put up 80 points this season. Like Tavares has his warts but might need to slow down a tad there.

Why can’t we just enjoy it for what it is? Tavares has not looked good outside of game 2, but Knies has. Doesn’t mean that he’s the better player or going to surpass him, but it’s a really good sign for Knies to be looking this good this early.

I don’t want to put a ceiling on him, personally. Wouldn’t be surprised if he developed into a Jamie Benn type of player in time. But that is certainly not the expectation. Hoping for a top 6 power forward that can contribute 20 goals 50+ points.

I personally don’t think he’s going to be crushing people. He’s got good size for the NHL but had great size for college. One comparison I referred to before was Brandon Saad when he was in Columbus and his first couple years in the league in Chicago.

What I've seen is a guy who uses his size very well to separate defenders from the puck on the forecheck, and shield the puck to make plays. Shows his focus is on generating scoring chances, and his puck handling and playmaking skills are clearly evident. Quite the package he offers as a power winger.

The rest are walking either by our choice or salary cap choice.
