Yes he is banged up. Don't think it is too serious though.I noticed Minten hasn't played the last 2 playoff games with Kamloops. Anyone know if he's injured?
Niemela with an assist
Marlies are signing Miettinen's teammate Grant Cruikshank to an ATO + 1-year deal for next season.
He's 24 already and was pretty mediocre until this season (5th NCAA season) where he had 23G - 15A - 38 PTS in 41 GP.
He can likely be a pretty productive Growler is my guess - they'll be replacing a good number of their mid 6 forwards likely, so this seems like a fine option for that.
Marlies love signing former captains.Would have preferred his other teammate, Jami Krannila. But Cruikshank should be a fine growlers option.
Matthew Knies posted about the signing too maybe they are buddiesMarlies are signing Miettinen's teammate Grant Cruikshank to an ATO + 1-year deal for next season.

So far, Niemela has looked pretty good. Limited action but he’s definitely impressed.Niemela probably won't be that big of a boost. The defense and goaltending are doing fine. We just can't score for crap and our defense is not the reason for it.
We are icing at least 3 or 4 ECHL caliber forwards up front right now. It is not really Moore's fault, because he doesn't have anyone better to use right now, but the fact of the matter remains that until we get more out of Tverberg/Ovchinnikov/etc. or we get guys like Hirvonen/Voit/Kressler/etc. to come in and provide additional support, we probably will not have much success.
SDA definitely helps in that regard.
It makes you wonder if they were considering the Marlies at all with their deadline moves. At the time the Marlies were in first place and it was by a landslide. But, since the deadline they've been in free fall. That Marlies game was crazy.
58+ minutes of shutout hockey, lotsa shots, then bang-bang-bang, 3 goals in less than 3.
Those forward lines are looking lean.
I mean that is a pretty easy decision. If you have to gut your farm team of org depth guys to load up your NHL team for a run at the cup...well that is just the way it goes.It makes you wonder if they were considering the Marlies at all with their deadline moves. When the Leafs were agreeing which contract to send back they really should have been more selective. They lost Anderson, Gaudette and Abramov up front and never properly replaced them. The team has been running ECHL level forwards since they left. When trying to improve the Leafs, they didn't fix the holes they made on the Marlies. So, they kind of butchered their #1 seed farm team to stack the Leafs for their run.
It looks like the Marlies are now going to be a first round out instead of a calder cup threat.
