Ah.. you meant Lisowky... that wasn't clear, from that post alone. Most scouting reports call his skating a strength... maybe not elite... but still a strength.

""

Overall, he’s a good skater. Strong on his edges in tight spots, he has good hips and utilizes stick-led turns for a quality weight balance transfer. He has really good speed at the top end — breakaway speed, even. The first step quickness isn’t there, though, especially in a change of direction, out-of-start-and-stop situation.

Speed can't really be taught, but acceleration can... so with some work, perhaps he can improve... his major strength is his shot.

Based on the scouting reports, it is very surprising he dropped to the 7th round.
Definitely worthy of being drafted, and really good value.

A few stray thoughts:
- One of the main things in hoping Robinson returns in form next year is he'll only cost $797k against the cap. There's huge value in having a ~middle-6 forward earning less than $1m (same hope for Knies). With his injuries, hard to imagine he'll be able to demand much as an RFA after next year too.
- Notable that Rifai has played in 60 of the Marlies' 61 games this year. He's impressed me when I've seen him. Wonder if he earns an NHL contract soon. I suppose one 'negative' to keep in mind is he just turned 25, but maybe can slot in as a 3rd-pairing guy soon-ish.
- Came to mind we don't hear about Hoefenmayer so much lately, and noticed a pretty sharp decline in his splits:
First 28 GP: 9 G 16 A 25 PTS +6 49 SH (71 in 82 pace)
Last 29 GP: 2 G 7 A 9 PTS -2 +/- 67 SH (25 in 82 pace)
His shooting rate is actually higher, but perhaps a regression to the mean after a hot start? How has he looked? If we do want to sign Rifai, I wonder if Hoefenmayer's still likely to get an NHL contract...

Nothing really.

Just think "kind of drive other professional athletes dream of" is a little over the top.
Ehh, you may be surprised how many pros have lost the 'love of the game' and are just going through the motions. Robinson does appear to have something special in that regard.

At 21, when most are just getting an opportunity after junior and getting paid more money than they'll make doing a job?

If we read his story line today, he got quite the gift coming out of junior.
He's a .23 PPG player in the NHL, on what a 11 goal pace.

All Leafs' fans are pulling for him, however he hasn't been good in the NHL, but let's circle back to he's only 21.

If he was 25-26 still in the minors, making 80-100k a year, I could see some concern or lack of drive for some players who came out of junior with no education thinking about their future out of hockey rather than busting their butts being one of the chosen to receive the NHL brass ring.

I guess this thread makes sense, but Jack Han just mentioned in his piece Dubas would have drafted Ke'Andre Miller if he hadn't been selected by the Rangers.

This makes sense, I doubt Dubas trades down from 25 to 29 if Rasmus Sandin was 'their guy'. They probably missed out on Miller and knew they could wait on Sandin while getting an extra pick out of it.

Game 2 for Tverberg tonight. Still looking for his first pro SOG but its a tough opponent so he may have to wait until Cleveland on Friday to break out:)

I suspect they had a tier of players they hoped to see at 29 as Sandin was ranked to go earlier. Some lists actually had him ahead of Miller. He was a pretty good pick if you look at the 20 guys taken after him.

I wanted him if he was there, NYR keep taking my guys, Miller and then Schneider lol.

Dubas also wanted Ohgren too...some close what ifs...

No Tverberg. Any word on when any other players are expected to join the lineup any time soon?

Where has SDA been?

Nothing about Niemela yet. SDA has been injured, but he's getting close to returning. Apparently day to day.

Wow ovechkinov is on the 2nd line? Nice.
Good move. Marlies need some skill in the lineup with the amount of players out.

Wonder if Tverberg is a visa thing?

Although you'd think Ovechkinov would be slower with being Russian...although he's been here recently too.
