Why would we sign Akhtyamov right now? He needs to prove himself in the KHL first.
It is not like we have room for him to come early and he isn't exactly a guy who has earned a contract just to get stashed in Russia.
Although i guess we did the same with Ovchinnikov and he didn't deserve it either so who knows.
Looks like Niemelä and Kärpät’s season is over now. Down 5-0 heading into the 3rd in a winner takes all game. Should be headed to Marlies by start of next week? Stay tuned folks. Might have to grab some tickets to see him! Honestly kind of happy they will be knocked out early, I really want Topi to get some games here and see how he looks up close.
Looking like a bunch of players coming to the Marlies now eh. Love it! Especially Tverberg. Excited for him and hope his game translates
Definitely looking like I will be watching more Marlies games in the next while, considering how "meh" it is to watch the Leafs right now, particularly with this 11-7 , lines in a blender garbage.

Hopefully Hirvonen can make his way over soon too. My brother got me tickets for a Marlies game for Xmas. Just haven't picked the game yet. Might have to do that soon with all these prospects coming.
Didnt realize that his season was over.no, no....last February he signed a 3 year contract with the Leafs.
Leafs agreed to have him play in KHL this season for more ice time and development.

He played the whole season with Sibir......in fact played 68 regular season games as a 20 year old. Then played 3 of their 5 playoff games and their series finished March 10. Standard contracts in KHL run to end of April but obviously when Leafs loaned him there, there was an understanding that he could return to play with Marlies when Sibir season was over. It will be interesting to see how much he has matured by playing against men since his 7 Marlie games last year.

When we trade up, it's the Gibson and Rakell picks to get Biggs.
When we trade down, we give up the Konecny pick to take Dermott and Bracco (and also take Dermott over Sebastian Aho who went one pick later).
Hopefully us trading down from the 44th pick (Ottawa took Kleven) to get Niemela and Hirvonen will finally buck that trend of regret!
Glad to see our AHL depth increasing and a lot of our prospects moving up within the organization. The best part is this means we are likely to see a number graduate to the big club next year. Personally hoping Steeves, McMann, Robertson, Holmberg all graduate next year to the Leafs full time.
Not a fan at all, but if they are playing Niemala and Tverberg, I can live with it.
Where I start hating 11-7 is when Kerfoot and Holl are always in the lineup. Put them in the Marlies lineup and I'm better with it as well....maybe.....

My thoughts have changed on this.
Why not overbake prospects when UFAs like Acciari sign for $1.25.
I would rather be smart shoppers on the UFA free agent market then promote a Steeves type.
