Looks like I went to the wrong game this weekend. How was Ovchinnikov? Not that I'm expecting much from his first.

If the rumors ring true, this could be the last game for all of Kivihalme, Menell, and Duszak.

Leafs have 49 contracts, and those three (plus Krys/Hutchinson/Hutton) make the most sense to dump right now.

Would be interesting to see what happens. I thought for sure a couple would go to Seattle, who only has 33 contracts right now after that trade.

The Leafs have been talking too much about the possibility of Abruzzese and maybe even Knies playing games for us this year... That means we need contract spots and those guys are a waste of them.

2 goals and 3 assists for Voit today. He reaches 20 goals. In typical Voit style, all 5 primary. I will say it again that the SDA comparable was way off base. He's a better goal scorer and better compete and better defensively.
I was in Sarnia on Wednesday and saw Voit play. He was held off the scoresheet in a 4-0 Stings win. But he was very impressive and was a constant threat on offence. He could easily have had several points with a little puck luck.

On the powerplay Voit would start out at the point but often ended up on the half boards. He clearly has excellent hands. He also had a few shifts on the PK, and did well. Good hands are an underrated attribute for the PK. If Voit touches the puck, it’s cleared, which is not the case with everybody.

I wouldn’t say he is most like SDA. Maybe a better comparison.would be a Bracco with a top gear. He is faster than SDA, IMO. Like SDA, he is very slight. He looks like a 14 year old, in some ways. I wouldn’t be surprised if he contends for the scoring lead in the OHL next season. Of course, that depends in part on the quality of his teammates. I’m not saying he will make the NHL - he is quite small. But I think he is very promising for a fifth rounder.

I could also see a move trading a goalie.

We have 8 goalies under contract. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hutchinson or Ian Scott traded...

Petruzelli is my hope for goalie if future.

steeves. Robertson. Knies have good middle 6 potential.

Douglas could be a monster 4th liner

Niemela. Lilly. Sandin could be 3-5 d.

Lots of promise of young talent around a Matthews marner nylander rielly core.

Really only need a 2 c

Might be Scott, but I wouldn't just throw him in.

I want to re-sign him and give him one more year to stay healthy.

Agreed.

I just don't see us running 8 goalies at once. Seems like a waste. Makes the Hutton trade more baffling.

Needed it to make the money work for Ritchie. That makes sense.

What doesn't make sense is how the Leafs don't dump contracts in that Seattle trade. They have 33 contracts. They are not using all of them this year.

Kivihalme and Menell should have been sent the other way. It is a lot of real money, but they are sending a lot of real money our way anyways. Both expire at the end of the year. Or if real money is a problem, then Krys makes 80k in the minors and is a pending RFA they can just not tender. Same with Duszak, who may even have some value to them.

I personally expected us to dump a goalie to Seattle. But not sure. Dubas must have a few moves up his sleeve tomorrow.

Any video of the goals and assists?

Voit has a quick release on his wrist shot and from what I saw is accurate. It doesn’t seem powerful, however, though that may improve as he matures and hopefully gains strength.

So when approximately am I going to see Knies in a leafs jersey
No one can be sure. The tournament starts this weekend and depending how the team does it could be as late as April 7, and that is only valid if the team signs him.

The fact that Rindell wasn't moved today indicates to me that he may end up getting signed by the Leafs, which is meh. Seems like a massive long shot, but the Leafs have had time for this type of D many times in the past.

If he moved over to NA upon signing, he'd likely just finish this year on an ATO and have his contract kick in next year. He shouldn't take up one of the few slots remaining for this season.
