I like to do this every once in a while for fun... my nhl draft has this guy in our slot so I checked him out. I realize we don't know where we'll finish or who they'll pick but like I say it's all for fun...He's rated anywhere from 21 to 53...Right handed defenceman 6'2" 174 lbs self-proclaimed 2 way defenceman with good hockey IQ...

There's a draft thread if you're interested :):

What's going on with Ian Scott? Is he just perma-injured or has he played at all this year?

there are some people just have a likeable personality he seems like one of them. this is the only interview ive seen of him so I can't tell lol

He is a complete dork (and I mean that in the nicest way possible). Not full of himself but still wants to be as good as he can be, which is the best balance.

It is nice that the Marlies were able to get lucky with him after getting unlucky with Scott.

According to that it's a loan which makes me think NSH still holds his NHL rights but he'll play with the Marlies when he's in the A?

I believe the Leafs did this with Sam Gagner a couple years ago. I'm not sure who held his rights, maybe Vancouver? But he wanted to play closer to home because he didn't make the team right out of camp.

Not sure the deal is with Myers.

If he is able to play in the post season for the Marlies, I'm okay with that trade.

He should be able to do so. It is not like we got him after the TDL, and the deadline for AHL rosters is next week I think.

Definitely a good bet for us. Myers is still an NHL caliber defenseman and is better than Biega. Makes up for trading Biega.

Maybe he is a target for us in the offseason if he gets bought out by Nashville, and this is a great way to evaluate him.

My guess is that Myers will be bought out at end of the year. Since he's young, the cap penalty is miniscule. Nashville actually will get a cap BENEFIT in y1 of his buyout of 600k and a cap penalty of y2 of 600k.

By getting him on loan, the Leafs can see if 1) they feel like they can fix him, and if so, 2) convince him to sign with them cheap when he's a free agent.

Brennan Menell was traded to Philly, so there is Myers' spot in the Marlies lineup and another key contract spot for the Leafs.
Is that 46 contracts or 47? Knies and Abruzzese will take up 2 of those assuming they sign as rumored.

You look at that forward group especially that 3rd line now, and there is no excuse for Moore not to figure it out. I know defence is average but it's not bad enough to be as it is and Myers will help.
The goalies even without Woll and Kallgren are capable. This team has underachieved and barely in the playoffs.

46 contracts now.

Back to a more manageable number. Still wish we could have moved a few more but I doubt we will need it now.

Ben Meyers, Nick Abruzzese, Jake Livingstone, and Matthew Knies... And I doubt we even get all of those guys.
