Abruzzese was so by far the best player of the first two periods (couldnt watch the 3rd). Him and Farrell (f*** mtl) are awesome. Coronato has been kind of disappointing in my viewings.

That assist was gross.

 imagine sending a Russian who's [maybe] never been to NA before to Newfoundland.

Nothing to do with where he's gonna play, I just picture it being hilarious (no offense to our buddies to the east)
the advantage of east IMO is that the atlantic provinces are pretty well-knit so if you know the people here you know someone else you might not. Especially in PEI

Abruzzese is approaching Niemela/Knies territory for me for prospects I don't want to see moved. I love watching this guy! A smart, tenacious player.

Muzzin - Niemela
Rubins/Kral

Campbell
Kallgren/Woll

Lineup within 18 months ^

I still think the Leafs will address the defense through trade, whether it’s this year or next, I think a prospect or two will be moved to get a legitimate top 4 RHD. You can’t go into a playoff with half your d core having played less than 150 games. I think they will look for veteran help and give Sandin, Liljegren and Niemela time to develop

Or make a reactionary GM change that sees the newcomer absolutely hemorrhage talent and value in an unforced effort to "clean house" and remake the org in their image
It's why if Dubas is let go, I want Shanny to be kept. He could prevent the new guy from doing that.

Petruzzelli was recalled with Woll out but Hutch will start today. Thats fine but if Moore plays Hutch again tomorrow than he's just clueless.

I wonder why there is no chatter about this guy turning pro
Actually Friedman mentioned it the first time he brought up Knies maybe getting a look. He actually said it looks like the club wants to get both these guys in some games before the end of the season for a look. Not sure if he was referring to the Leafs or the Marlies tho.

We just have to actually reach the second wave before half the fanbase drives the first wave out of town.
ain't that the truth.

I've been saying this for ever, we just need to make it to this second wave lol. I know most people who wonder over to this section of the Leafs board are largely like minded and would more than likely prefer Kyle stay in charge regardless of outcome. When you frequent this section of the forum often you are constantly reminded how deep our prospect pool really is. And there is some really strong pieces in this bunch as well.

Kyle is far from a perfect GM, but his eye for talent is exceptional IMO. Not just at the amateur level but pro as well. For me, provided he doesn't make a trade that drastically compromises that second wave or our future he is 100% the right guy for this job IMO. I really don't like our chances at the cup this year, or even getting past the first round. But I am praying we at least get 1 series win just to make a case for Kyle to stay in as GM. I fear this "cleaning of house" that you speak of. I feel like we are so close to being a dominant team. In my mind, the 2022-23 to 2024-25 seasons will likely be our real contending window. We need to win then. Those will be the "all-in" years IMO. Not this year.

Yeah I'd pretty much not trade him, Robertson, Niemela, Knies, and Holmberg at this point. 4/5 are basically NHL ready and look like they can be contributors on the NHL team tomorrow.
I am on the fence about keeping both Robertson and Abruzzese. The whole argument for drafting best skill available and dangles over grit was so they could trade the surplus for positions of actual need. On a club that already has Willie and Mitch what are these guys futures? We are talking here about adding players like Comtois and were in the hunt for Hagel so do we need more Marner lites? Don't get me wrong I am glad they haven't emptied the cupboard for a rental but if they want to add a young cost controlled player at a position of real need something of real value has to go the other way.

Do you see something that sets one of the Nick's above the other? Or are you maybe looking ahead to what the club may need to have available if one of the top wingers goes (so keep both)? I agree all of that group could have impact next season, but also that might be two years away and the window is already open.

I was on the fence, but he's an almost PPG 19 year old freshman thats *this* dominant offensively and in transition playing top-6/top-pp for arguably the best team in the NCAA.

Its time to challenge him with bottom-6 NHL or top-6 AHL minutes. Theres honestly no debate about NCAA anymore, I'm sorry.

He's got technical elements to his game that he needs to work on still in terms of development. The Gophers have a good track record with skill development which is why I think he may end up returning + having consistency in his environment I like rather than constantly moving guys around.

I'm not opposed to him heading to the AHL either. But think he's likely still a season away from being a full time NHLer.

its a league were pretty much all the teams play back to back on the weekend and 99.9% of the times both goalies play.
i think its a good bet
